As to your cat, clip it's claws when needed, get scratchers and place about the house especially near the sofa so it scratches the scratcher instead of your sofa and put a blanket on the sofa, when you don't have guests which I learned from a friend. She had three.cats and two large sofas and I asked how she kept the cats from scratching it. She put blankets on it when there were no guests. I did that with my futon, but used two comforters and they scratched the blanket and the futon was fine.

Don't worry about style. That is not important. What is important is that you are happy with the results and you feel you are home. You decorate with you in mind your colors, likes, art and furniture. You are creating your home so it reflects you. If you are happy with the results, that is what matters. I love the art work. The colors in the rooms tie into the artwork and brings the rooms together.

Love your place! Couple of suggestions - scratching post for Junior and hanging your wall art above the turntable. The position and angle of the art gives a reflection of the skylight which diminishes enjoyment of the art. Totally warm and cozy feel - looks great!

I agree. Hang the art to give it its due respect, since it's best viewed from eye level. Also, it makes me nervous thinking it will fall over and damage itself and the record player. Once the kitty comes home it will happen! 😉

For hanging pictures I also love the 3M Velcro that stick onto drywall and use Velcro to stick to Velcro you’ve attached to the back of the picture. To remove, the tab of sticky is pulled in line with how it was applied to the wall and it all pulls off without damage to the drywall or to the back of the picture. I’ve also used for things like clocks and light metal sculptures too

I think it looks great! Personally I like the art hung on the wall above the stereo as then it leaves a bit of white space between them. I wouldn’t hang it too much above the stereo. BUT, it’s your house and you should do whatever you like best. Different tastes and preferences make decor interesting. 😊

Impressive moon walking, George. Love your choices. They've made a real difference ❤. Very cosy. The prints are gorgeous and personally I always prefer them fixed to the wall than ledged against furniture. The only things I would add are rustic style wicker baskets on top of your kitchen units (but then again I love the rustic, cottage style). I would also add a basket of apples in the kitchen, just my little thing, they always give off a sweet scent. I'm so jealous of your beautiful walled garden. Looking forward to seeing what you plant. Thank you for another great video 🦋.

I've seen where people put at and custom unique dishes in their short term rental and list the price in the welcome book. BTW a welcome book and guest log are great ideas for your shirt term rental. Your welcome book could introduce you, hold cards displaying your social accounts, have a map of the area and some places you recommend they check out. Your guest book would have pages for the guests to read others thank you notes and a place for them to leave their own.

I’ve been living with a jute rug for several years. On the whole I really like it, but there were a couple of things I found out. My jute rug is placed on a wood floor. It’s in a high traffic area. Because of that, it leaves a powdery film underneath it. I now know I should have placed a pad underneath, but it’s too late now (lots of heavy furniture on it). Second, it can get moldy if it gets wet. I dropped a glass of soda on it once and it took me FOREVER to get it dry. But if I would have left it, it would have molded, so I blotted it until nothing else came out, and then propped the end where the spill was until it was THOROUGHLY dry. Lastly, if your house is prone to ants or other crawlies, they will love your rug. Jute is a plant after all. Under a dining table could be a favorite bug haunt. Mine’s in a bedroom so I don’t have a problem. Hope this helps.

Adding lighting was smart - it's the greatest component in creating cosiness. Your furnishings are all incredibly neutral coloured which really minimises any sense of cosiness, but that is contrasted with the gorgeous oak floor, table and hi-fi stand. I think just a little more autumn coloured items will add cosiness on winter days when you want the blinds open. The soft furnishings look nice.

Very cozy and appealing. Great job. Since you asked, as an artist and interior designer, I mostly like pictures hanging on the wall. Especially in small crowded areas. It's less chaotic and more organized looking. Sometimes in a cavernous room, something big, like a giant mirror or painting resting on the floor or varied stacks of books make for appealing design elements. But your sideboard is small, and resting the print there looks precarious and crowded to me and makes the surface of your sideboard less inviting. Ypur sideboard looks more beautiful with just the turntable and speakers on it.

as someone from Denmark I would say your style is Scandinavian , I love it, and about curtains you rarely see that in Scandinavian homes, we tend to prefer blinds and have them rolled completely up most of the tome , to let in as much light as possible , I do think the blinds are cozy because it's linen so they do give some texture

George you are such a beautiful person! I highly enjoy your videos!! Since you asked for my opinion I will share it. I enjoy watching you trying to discover your decor style! I love most of what you've done!! Having said that this is what I would change. I think the rug under the kitchen table will be annoying when sitting and while you're moving the chairs in and out while eating. Ultimately I think you'll be better off without it. I have seen wood stains help set apart areas like that. I have also seen painted ceilings set off areas easily in that environment. The only other thing I would change up is the picture in the kitchen. In my opinion it looks like a postage stamp on your wall. What I would do is get a narrow ledge for it to sit on. I would see about hingng it to the wall for safety. Then you can find other things to help balance that space. A tall narrow green thing (? Fake plant maybe) and a third little thing on the other side for balance?? Think 'set of 3' to round out the coziness without cluttering it up. The living room and record player area look fabulous!! Great job!!

I vote for hanging the picture now resting near the phonograph; with a cat in the house you're just asking for trouble -- I speak from experience. Having said that, you could rest it on the table and leaned against the wall if you could firmly attach the back of the upper edge to the wall in a way that would resist playful attacks or jumps by Junior. It does look cozier, though! Congrats!

Looks good George. Now to find attractive scratching offerings for Junior. Cats use curtains and furniture because there's nothing better on offer. Depending on the cat, they'll go for corrugated cardboard, rugs or sisal. Some like their scratching surface horizontal, some like it vertical. I have a ladder with one stile wrapped in sisal up to about three feet off the floor because my cat likes a vertical stretch. I've also seen a two-foot wide carpet affixed to a wall virtually floor to ceiling. Lots of possibilities, many ugly, but some attractive. More research for you....

When your large blind is down, for me, the deep green accent wall doesn’t work because you also have the big white rad against that wall and it distracts for me, that it’s not the same colour as the wall. If it was my room I think I’d choose a different accent colour quite close to the colour of the blind and I’d paint the radiator same as the wall. Nowadays you can paint any material using the appropriate primer. You’ve done an amazing job overall and hope it’s the first of many!

Thanks George for this vlog, I love the way the room looks now, so inviting and warm. When you opened the photo album I thought I was looking at my family, we’re also redheads. The baby ones in particular looked just like one of ours who is 22 today.

You are an amazing young man. Your Mum must be so proud. BTW, I haven’t watched your channel in a very long time. Now I have to go back and find out what happened to your lovely tiny house. I hope you still have it. I guess I’ll find out!

I never know with you George..."cage fighting". Your wonderful sense of humor tells me this could be cheeky but your unique interests and love of life tells me it could be a real interest! I just started reading the book Wabi Sabi by Beth Kempton. I love the style too.

George !! I absolutely adore your home and how you’ve transformed this area .. your taste is exactly like ours !! Everything about it is stunning .. well done !! By the way, I love your opening comment here .. that you’d like to live in the woods with 23 cats. Ditto. Wishing you luck with your dream, lol ❤️

You are now my favorite KZbinr! I found you because I couldn’t sleep due to crippling bouts of anxiety here lately. So I found myself knee deep in cat videos ( which always can make me smile:)And I love love love the relationship you have with Ginger:) My passions are cats and personal, unique design, and decor as opposed to cookie cutter trendiness. I feel strongly that your space should calm and soothe you and reflect your personality in general:) And everything about you and what you love, I like walking into someone’s home and getting a sense of who they are and what they are all about. In fact to my detriment I tend to choose aesthetics over functionality, though I’m happiest and so excited when I can blend the two seamlessly! You do that well, also having been married to an electrician and renovating and building a home of our own Ive grown to be almost obsessive with lighting which I see you are fond of as well:) Ive found that over bright and harsh lighting make me a little restless and love that you can dim and brighten yours according to setting and mood, Ambiance and aesthetics, You don’t have to be wealthy to enjoy the finer things in life and it makes me happy to find little things here and there to brighten up my surroundings, It’s sometimes even the littlest of things that can make me so happy and content:)You definitely have an eye for design and love watching as you gradually make your home completely your own, and well Ginger as well!😊I am so grateful and happy to have found you two:)

Very nice changes. Don’t sleep on rug pads though. They really add to the underfoot plushness and make your rugs last longer and protect your wood. I have pukey cats so I have a thin rug pad that’s waterproof, and a thicker one that’s a recycled felt-like material. It makes it so much nicer.

George: You did more than an “okay” job making your Air BNB cozy; it looks wonderful! Great way to get ideas the way you did. I like that the picture behind the record player is leaning against the way as opposed to hanging on the wall. I’d love to look through that photo album book you put on the coffee table; good idea! Pat yourself on the back. P.S.: I like how you placed the pillows on the couch and the next thing you see is mama re-positioning them! Loved the moon walk on the rug too!
