Hello Michael. This was an excellent video. I want one of the electric cookers you used.

Possibly a silly question, but is this different than lacto-fermentation?

Dang. I just wanted an air tight jar to store my almonds in. The plastic OXO one I have sucks. Hope this fits the bill! Saw these at Whole Foods and bought a few not realizing their true purpose…

These instructions do not appear to meet USDA safety standards for vegetables, which must be pressure canned to hit the 240* temperature to kill botulism spores. Pressure is set based on your altitude and time is based on size of jar and type of contents. Boiling water will not reach this 240* temperature as it boils at about 212* at sea level, check the USDA website for more information. Keep you and your families safe!

Yes, in the US, this does not meet “requirements,” but the rest of the world does not care what the USDA, etc. has to say.

@@GodGunsGutsandNRA The USDA does have research behind them though, and the recommendation to pressure can low-acid foods is a good one. It's sad that there are no pressure canners available in the EU, I had to import my Presto from the US.

@@jockeberg4089 You would be surprised at how LITTLE research the USDA has behind them. It is just another one of the “Alphabet Agencies” in the US that does little for citizens, but does a lot to protect corporations. Just like our world renowned FDA, however, our FDA has around 24 employees that “approve drugs,” and do little to keep bad drugs out of the system. They started out with good intentions, but were “bought” by Big Pharma ~~1990. Most of the “food & drug safety” in the US is now just smoke and mirrors.

Always pressure can green beans, heat treatment must get up to 240 degrees F, water bath is not sufficient for low acid foods!!!!

Can you oven can with tthese jars?
@janiceseigler63173 жыл бұрын
No oven canning for any jars. The jars are not designed to withstand the dry heat. The jars will crack.

Yes I've seen people in Germany use these type of jars to can oven baked cakes and breads. You add the rubber seal once you remove the jars from the oven.
