It's a great idea for emergencies. I can be done with my project during the time it takes to make one connector. Thumbs up for ingenuity.

Wouldnt that weaken the pvc quite a bit? Would it still handle 50psi?

what about the fittings which have 3 sides one to up - one to left - one to right

This is a great way to save when you inadvertently cut a pipe too short for traditional fittings

To make PVC tomato cages, the cost of the elbows exceeds the cost of a Wire cage. Using a heat gun to bend the tubing has my cost at 3 dollars for a 6 ft tall cage.

For elbows, and or bends insert a flexable stainless steel shower hose in the pipe to keep it from kinking. Just be sure the hose doesn't have ends on it or you won't get it back out the pipe without cutting it to remove it.

How would you reverse the process? Go from 1” to 3/4”?

He shows that at the beginning when he reduces the end which he uses as a tool. In your example, you would start by forcing a heated 1" inside a !'' for the initial reduction .Then continue heating and forcing the reduced end into successively smaller sizes, such as tool sockets, under you achieve the desired size.

The only problem with heating PVC is it changes the chemical composition and weaken the pipe
@ip52323 жыл бұрын
i have to say , I had always done this BUT only do it for electrical grey pvc conduit, will never attempt to do it or recommend to do it in for a supply water line, note that doing this WILL definitely change and affect the PSI that is designed for, so be ready for a surprise if one day you ger home and for some reason the water pressure went up a little in your area.🙈🙈🙊🙊

Very clever! I would rather just buy the fittings for the job but if I was in a jam or something... it's SUCH a clever option! 👍

This may work if your too far away from a hard ware store, or if it’s a emergency and it’s after hours, other wise it’s time consuming, it’s way faster and cheaper, cuz less labor, just to buy them, also it may not work in tight spots, , but it’s a great ideas. I’m sure if will come in handy.

It depends on where you are. If you're in a remote location and don't have time to drive to town, this might work in a pinch. ;-)
@cattfishing4 жыл бұрын
That is exactly what this is for. For when you are unable, for some reason to get the exact fittings needed at the time.
