So I use Cement-All which cost 3 times LESS. Dries hard in 1 hour. Remove from mold. Wait 1-4 hours and you can paint it. You need to wait 5-7 days to resin it. makes very smooth rocks. That will with stand up great outdoors also. Why use Ultracal? Nice video though.

Thanks for the tip! In the description I mention this was all a gift. So, I used this because it seemed to be popular and what I had. I’ve never heard of cement-all but I’m definitely interested!! I’ll check it out. I love a bargain!! If I get some I’ll let you know.

Love your videos I've learned a lot I live in South Texas and it's been about 10 days since I casted my first stone I still don't have a consecutive weight. Does that mean they're still not dry?
@JaDeLRocks Жыл бұрын
Lol… nope. It probably just means your pouring isn’t consistent. Neither is mine. I live in Arkansas so I know about humidity and I bet you have it even worse being by the Gulf.. you lucky girl! I just love Southern Texas♥️♥️♥️ I’d say give your stones an extra day than mine. Maybe 6? If you are using a bigger mold like Happy Dotting Company’s new #5 then she recommends a full 7 days. The way I use the weight in this video was.. the weight didn’t change on day 5, 6, or 7… I figured all the water was gone. But… I don’t show that if I make 10 stones they all weigh different amounts. So treat each stone individually. It’s not comparing 2 stones to get the same weight. It’s monitoring each stones weight change. I’m going to bet that after 10 days you are good to go. Gosh I hope that’s explains it… let me know if it doesn’t. Rock on Lisa 🤗

how long do you hand mix for?
@JaDeLRocks4 ай бұрын
Until all the lumps are out. Over time I’ve found that when you mix the powder and water.. if you just leave it sit long enough for most of the bubbles to rise.. just a minute or two. Anyhow, it becomes very easy to mid with less clumps. That’s my observation. Hope this helps.

I was annoyed by bubbles that didn't pop & showed up on my painting surface of my self made rocks. Solution: I found a vibrating plate used by jewelers/chemists & v-v-v-v-vibrated those bubbles away. Thank you.
@JaDeLRocks Жыл бұрын
Oh my gosh that’s a great tip!! Don’t laugh at me.. naw go ahead! But… I went through the same thought process. On my ultracal rocks I literally used an electric toothbrush and went over the mold with it. Then I think it was Jody from Jody paints it up on Facebook that had a video where she literally sticks a paintbrush in the mix and rubs the mold to release the bubbles. It’s a little messy but it works. The plate sounds sooooo easy! I do so many at once id wonder… how long do you have to leave it on there to be effective?
@SHANGRILAAA333 Жыл бұрын
@@JaDeLRocks LOL - I've used my electric toothbrush too but because it's a sonic wave it didn't do much. This is a commercial type instrument which has a knob to turn up the vibration. I start it on low and then slowly increased the speed. I make sure to hold onto my mold because it would vibrate across plate.
@JaDeLRocks Жыл бұрын
What’s the name of it.. I’d love to try that. So far that’s still the one thing that’s lacking for me… bubbles. Most of the time I get it right but they are still on the back of the rocks more often than not.

@JaDeLRocks9 ай бұрын
I love it too but it is expensive. CementAll is my 2nd choice… so far. I did a video on it. For making rocks the dry time was a god send. I think you just thin the mix a bit more. Yes. It doesn’t turn to mush when wet. I left one out on my porch. No paint or sealer… it took roughly 2 years to show damage. I also have a video for making these stones from Cement All… kzbin.info/www/bejne/onOnqHmng6unbbssi=QhvY-Ktwe7zDLzB7
