very useful video. great for adding decoration to finished projects, is it possible to do more complex shapes with a v groove such as a circle?
@geoffsjoinery49902 жыл бұрын
Hi Jono Yes you could do circles with a v groove but the starting and finishing in the same spot has to be spot on otherwise it won’t look good so be careful of that. Good luck and enjoy 😉

Have a look into a circle guide for a plunge router. Should work great for that sort of thing. 👍

Hi Geoff, what type and size of router bit did you use for this piece of work? Thank you Graham.
@geoffsjoinery49906 ай бұрын
Hi Graham I have left a link in the description for a set of V-Groove cutters, there are a few sizes so it can depend on how big you want your groove to be. I have only used a small 90 deg one.

@@ramyemam_ I left a link to a set of cutters in the description and I used the second size V groove bit. Thanks for watching 👍

Good video, but what are the details of the two router cutters you used?
@geoffsjoinery4990 Жыл бұрын
They are just standard V-Groove cutters, see link below: V-Groove Router Cutter Set: amzn.to/420y560 Thanks

@@geoffsjoinery4990 Geoff thanks for the reply but please think about what you have posted, when you are demonstrating something on KZbin it is good to state what you are using, you have posted links to other equipment you are using. V-Groove cutters come in different size diameters and different angles, be far better to actually mention what you used to help someone to choose a similar cutter.

Hi, what depth would you recommend for a 3mm board? I want to make one for my stair risers, so I don't want a board anything thicker than a 3mm. Thank you for this video, I didn't realise how easy it is to make V-grooves. Going to by a router tomorrow. :)
@geoffsjoinery49909 ай бұрын
Hi Vinnie, I would only go at least half the depth of your 3mm board so 1.5mm, should hopefully be deep enough to give you that V-groove pattern. Good luck 👍

How would you do the ends if you needed butt it up to another panel. To have it look seamless
@geoffsjoinery49909 ай бұрын
Mark the position of the V-goove s and continue them onto your panels, I am assuming top or bottom...

What do you think is the thinnest MDF board you could do this with?
@geoffsjoinery4990 Жыл бұрын
Hi Alison, I would say at least 6mm (1/4”) MDF, I wouldn’t do it to anything thinner. But hanks for Watching 👍😊

How would you finish that door say for a vanity?
@geoffsjoinery49902 жыл бұрын
I would send this to the painter and get it sprayed in 2 pak polyurethane or you could do this yourself 👍

What is the depth of the v-groove that you made?
@geoffsjoinery499010 ай бұрын
It’s really up to you and the look that you are after. I don’t go too deep just enough so it makes the impression of a groove and that panel look feature.
