I drove up to WF DMV just because the ladies in there are so helpfull. Walked out with a tag for my Can Am in 20 minutes. They know exactly how to get it accomplished and they are great to deal with. To reiterate you will need: 1-MCO in your name. If you have a MCO from another owner you will need a notarized bill of sale (notary on that piece of paper!) and a MVR-180. 2-A MVR-59 notarized which you can do because it is an affidavit. 3-A NC State inspection. The software my guy used was under Sport/Utility Vehicle which did prompt the tamper inspection menu. 4- Proof of insurance, State Farm sent me an email (binder) within 30 minutes of my call.

Great video, super useful! I'm trying to register a new Axis 700 (the one from Lowes). It comes with headlights, turn signals, seat belt, etc. I added the reflectors and will be installing a windshield wiper. We'll see how it goes!

@@BeboAltizer So I went to the DMV with my title and insurance card. They gave me a form to fill out, the Modified Utility Vehicle Affidavit (MVR-59) and told me that I had to get it signed by the manufacturer or dealer (false). I checked online and found others have successfully signed it themselves as "Person", but you do have to get it notarized for some silly reason. I've purchased a wiper kit so I won't need a helmet all the time (only planning to make short trips into town) and need to install it. Next I need to find somewhere that will perform an inspection on a UTV, like an motorcycle and/or sport vehicle dealer. Then I'll go to another DMV and see if I can finally get a tag. I don't think you should have a problem with displacement. The current law removed that restriction (see www.ncleg.gov/Sessions/2021/Bills/Senate/PDF/S241v1.pdf) as far as I can tell (I'm not an attorney).

Hello Thanks for this great video!!! I have a Honda Pioneer 520 - it's 105" long and 50" wide - i have to kit to install the blinkers, horn etc. - am i wasting my time to do a safety inspection? Are they, in your opinion, checking the length and width, or is there a way around this?

They go off or manufacture dimensions. So, yours is going to be too small… I have heard of people getting away with wheel spacers, bumpers etc. But the law is very specific…

In the State of Michigan the ORV vehicle has to have a hand mechanical brake cable to both emergency calibers on the rear wheels. My RZR has a hand brake lever mounted between the seats. Michigan has the toughest laws in the nation governing ORVs converting to legal highway use. Everything needs to be DOT APPROVED: Glass windshield/ electric wipers/ electric washers/ DOT tires/ front and rear bumpers/ horn/ turn signals/ 4 way flashers/ TR54 (inspection sheet) via cops/ DOT headlights and tail/brake lights/ mandatory state liability insurance/ DMV inspection/ certified copy of the title and bill of sale/ purchase agreement... I did all the conversions myself except the rear brake assembly/ parts. It took me ten months of paperwork with the Secretary of State (Covid restrictions didn't help) and about $4k... my legal title is now "ASSEMBLED ASSEMBLED PICKUP)... I don't know why two ASSEMBLED ASSEMBLED title and registration card... the SOS told me if it didn't have two Assembled on the paperwork and return and get it changed or I would get a serious citation from the cops! You guys in NC have it made in the shade! Lol

I heard another option is to open an LLC and register it in Montana (there are companies that do the paperwork and provide you with the Montana address). Because you "own a company" in Montana you can keep the plates indefinitely living out of state. The class of vehicle it's registered as allows you to ride it anywhere you could drive a car in all 50 states. No taxes or inspection and registration is permanent. There's a guy on KZbin that lives in Pennsylvania that has his registered in Montana and he drives it all over the east coast. They don't even have a registration option in Pennsylvania for side by sides. If I ever get another side by side I'll probably end up doing that so I can drive it wherever the hell I want including interstate highways.

Great review! Dumb question - Based on your interpretation on “lanes”. Is this referring to lanes in one direction or does it include oncoming traffic lanes? Would a divide in the road change that number?

So, it’s the lanes you’re traveling down at that time. So, if you can merge from one lane, all the way over to a 4th lane. You get the point. The oncoming traffic does not count, medians and dividers don’t matter

What if you bought your machine used? I have the mco but it’s not assigned in my name. I also have a non notarized bill of sale. what’s needed in my situation as far as documents? My machine has all the needed stuff already.

You need to contact local dealer and get MCO switched into your name, this will most likely require a notorized bill of sale. I also encourage people to go the extra mile and get a bill of sale notarized. Once notarized it now becomes a legal document. Without it, the signatures on that paper are worthless.

My local dealer (Can-Am) would not pursue a MCO in a different name other than the original he said that was a one time "birth certificate". I used the MCO from the original owner and a notarized bill of sale to me at the DMV. The MCO should not be signed to anyone other than the OG owner on the back. That is for dealer to dealer and the bottom portion to the first owner finalizes the MCO out. That is the difference between a MCO and a title.

No, it would need to be registered in NC for a NC title. Look into dirt legal.

About $130 in total, you no longer have to pay the HUT (Highway Use Tax) Then next time you renew your plate in a year it will be around $30

Got my tag today in Hoke County. Glad I wrote down the number in your video and took it with me. They had to call to ask if I was considered a individual on the dmv form. They kept telling me a dealership had to do the work and notarize it. I kept telling them it had manufacture dealer and individual on there for a reason. I assured them I was in fact a individual. They finally called and said your right you can do that as a individual. I think it was as much of a learning experience for them today as it has been for me. Jeremiah, it must be a “certified duplicate” you can’t just copy it on a copy machine. The actual duplicate is allowed due to the bank having to keep some form of collateral for proof they’re the lien holder.

@@jeremiahyarborough5754 lol a FAXED copy is a COPY!!! You have to get a duplicate, which is a copy of the original. That way, it’s notarized and the state sends it off. Once vehicle is paid off, you have the ability to then get your NC title. Go to where you bought it and request a duplicate MCO. Then try again, and maybe a different DMV.

The part that I don't understand, is common sense head lice turns it goes horns mirrors etc etc proper tires etc etc. To me this is all common sense. Are the generation now that damn stupid, that you don't know what you're supposed to do. Now if you're truly want to help you talk about going to the DMV and getting the inspection the cost the paperwork. That would be helpful but for the others if they're so stupid they don't know any better. They should be on the road in the first place.
