How To Map VU Meters In Traktor to a DJ Controller

Such a solution sounded obvious to me when I tried to map the exact same thing on my X1MK2s… However I found it inconvenient since the original button LEDs (FLUX & SYNC) were obviously no longer available. Of course one can use an external modifier switch (like SHIFT button) to show these parameters but it makes you lose the shift functionality of those buttons. Anyway, Ean, I want to thank you for all your hard work! DJTT has inspired me and my friends a lot!

Suddenly inspired to make a mapping for the Traktor Kontrol F1 that lets you do this as well as hop into deck controls and stuff. Thanks Ean for continuing to inspire me to repurpose and push the limits of gear!

at the top of the x1 there are two buttons that say on. could the vu meter be mapped so it only comes on when these have been pressed and they revert to normal operation after?

Hi! I have a question not related to this subject of this video but if you could help me I would appreciate it. I've imported a tsi file for my ddj sx3 controller on traktor 3.Most of the functions work correctly but when I press the monitor button to each channel to listen to it separately it does not work. I can only hear if I press the button to hear the master out but then I wont be able to mix because I can not ajust the pitch of the song about to be mixed. I don't know if it is a mapping problem which I think it is not or it is something related to input/output routing since the mapping has been set to whenever I press the monitor button on each channel on my controller pioneer ddj sx3 it is supposed to hear that deck in my headphone and not on the master channel. I hope you understood my problem and you will be able to help me.Thank you very much!

Hey Ean, I just tried this out on my Traktor Kontrol F1 and had no luck at all. I've also been into the controller editor to fiddle around with colours and "LED on MIDI out" settings. I've done everything like you have but it still isn't working. Any ideas or advice?

This mapping blocks all the other LED signals provided by the controller (e.g. sync/flux/cue) unless you create a switchable modifier to show the original output. Ean, how have you managed it?

Use a Condition Modifier to route VU LED when track is playing else use default output (sync/flux/cue).

My controller has leds for high mid low eq off/on i use a beat phase map to each with their own min max parameters and make it look like a vu meter and when activated i.e. High eq on led stays lit . When no track is playing on deck leds are off.

Akai mpd 226 , it works , Thank You . But when I play (Mpd 226+timecode vinyl+Traktor Pro 3) the sound quality gets bad. Only when import maps for VU. Tryied it on 2 laptops ,still the same effect. Can You help mi with that Ean please ? Or anyone has the same problems ? Thank You in advance.

Cristian Sena you can check the compatibility with xtreme mapping: I updated my xtreme mapping so I can now switch compatibility to the latest traktor V 2.6.8 for VU meters you need about V. 2.5 or higher

How to map the Flux button on Traktor Kontrol X1 MK2 to give 8 hot cues ?? can anyone help??

There is actually a setting in the preferences under Kontrol X1 MK2. You can change the settings so that when you hold shift and press the flux button, the cue buttons 1-4 will actually cue the cue points 5-8. This is my favorite feature about the X1 MK2 and I plan on adding the same functionality on top of the S4 MK2 HID mapping! Hope this helps
