I think with so many people disagreeing with ur takes is a good thing. I've heard a lot of diff teir list and ppl talk about the roster. The options are diff everytime. Leading me think outside top 500, just get good with who u want and u will do great regardless. It's actually fairly balanced. If u buffed the bottom 3 heros and nerfed the top 3 the rest kinda even out.

Warning:long rant I main magneto and in my eyes hes not as bad as you say he is. For starters, the only tank you can solo tank in the game when your going against a good team is dr. Strange. Even though magneto is similar to dr strange, he idoes not play the same role entirely as him. Magneto plays a role that is best in a 2 tank comp. This is because he is the most versatile tank in terms of being back line and Frontline. He has great abilities for helping him and his teammates take damage, which allows him to be able to do a pushes with his team like dr strange. The only downside to his kit is he has no run away button like strange when he flys into the air. For this reason he might not feel impactful, but in almost every game a play as him, i get the most damge received even if he strange is on my team. For a 2 tank comp i believe magneto to be the best tank to pick. This is bc he can pair up well with any other type of tank. For example with hulk or venom who are dive tanks, he is able to give then a shield for when they dive and then oush up with them to objective with his shield. For back line tanks like penny, you can play Frontline and help with backline especially when playing defense against payload. With strange and groot who like to play more frontline he pairs well as he can protect back if he needs to and help push front if they get low or need help because of high dps on the other team. Their are only two times i see him as bad. When your team autolockes duelist so you need to pick strange, and in lower lobbys where your team can be horrendous and you won't be able to get value bc your abilities are more likely to get wasted. These problems are all bad on other tanks with the only exceptions being strange for sure and thor a little bit.

Thanks for that insight. I'm trying to learn how to play magneto because I am super laggy and when I lag, I don't want to be dead while helping my team. I usually play as Jeff the land shark but everytime I play as him, everyone plays as dualists so I'm always a mile away from my team so I am basically useless. And when I lag out, that gives time for everyone on the opposing team to rush the only healer and tank, killing us in seconds. I wish people understood 2-2-2 team match ups. His ranged attacks also have a "sweet Spot" that he didn't mention, when you learn where the air burst goes off you become a great counter to flying characters. he can lay great splash damage if used in a choke point, and the space his shield takes over allows for some amazing 1-way damage pushes. obviously strange is bigger but the no damage cap can save teammates from some huge ults.

One tip i have for Cap. If youre a Destiny 2 fan, play him like youre on titan's sentinel shield. I felt he was clunky at first but as soon as i heard someone say treat him like Void titan, it just clicked

@TheDirtRacerYT I like to approach with at least one other ally while guarding. Let them shoot the shield for a bit and as soon as they stop, immediately start attacking. Through in some jumps while you approach to play some mind games. If you really want to copy D2, do 2 neutral attacks, lunge then throw a shield

@@TheDirtRacerYThe is a dive tank, imo works best when you have at least 1 other tank on your team. The strat with cap is go to the settings and change the sprint to toggle instead of hold and simply sprint around constantly. Jump into the backline and bully the supports then sprint away. Save your movement abilities, like the dash and the jumping slam, to get away, they’re often better used for mobility rather than damage. Just run around and be a bully, it’s very easy to have very low death games with Cap.

As a Peni main, You can also extend the Spider nest range with your webs. This CAN help you peak around corners better. Try this out in the Practice Range. Hope this tip helps

The other thing that I found out while playing Thor, my main vanguard, is if you hit an enemy with the melee bash while your hammer glows blue, you get a full reset on your ThorForce. Which is key to using the flying charge attack. Fly in, swing to recharge the used force. Also, getting a last hit snipe with the hammer throw is such an amazing feeling lol

Thor's awesome and I think this video is a little premature. It has decent tips, but definitely watch a good advanced guide for any hero on this list. He kind of blew it with his Thor assessment. He's a great offensive presence in the frontline. He can swing in, drop his lightning and attack with his Rune. He also gets 100HP for every thorforce he consumes up to 200HP. Swinging is a great option to close distances, move enemies out, etc

Saying magneto is the worst tank is wild considering hulk is right there lmao. Either you dont fw his kit or just cant play him thats fine but you failed to realize his strength is his staying power. The one thing you got right though is that melee characters are a threat to him. In the scenario that a melee character gets close you should right click with full stacks to push them back from you, disengaging them unless they want to keep pushing into your whole team. Hope this helps a vit when you have to prove to randos online that you know what youre doing on magneto lol

He's a lot harder to play in Bronze silver and Gold, which is half the player base, because there's no coordination and you often get left out on your own. He's great peeling for his strategists and weaving back and forth between the frontline and the backline. You MUST hit your shots though with Magneto. Pop your bubble, hit your primary and your cannon to take out most melee heroes. Play him with a Doctor Strange and a Luna Snow and you'll win A LOT of games. He does have one very hard counter and that's Thor. Thor's rune damage eats Magneto alive.

Okay, some people are saying your takes where bad when you reached Magneto, but it truly clicked for me when you talked about Thor. I *just* watched a top 500 Thor player explaining the character properly and it's pretty much nothing like you described Thor. His thor force recharges on melee hit after his RMB and his shift ability, so he *can* be mobile as hell, and using his 3-charges ability actually leaves you way more vulnerable precisely because you limit your own mobility and versatility in exchange for extended range.

You have to understand that most players are never going to reach a top 500 status. We're not bringing that level of analysis to this type of video. That being said I'm confident we have a firm grasp of these characters and definitely stand by my Thor take as it's one of the vanguard play the most. It might not be a top 500 level of detail or nuance, but it's going to serve most casual players well.

The knock-up on the 3rd strike is nice, it gives you just enough time and knocks them just far enough back for Groot to then put up a wall between the 2 players. Due to his limited mobility, this makes for a great start to an admittedly slow getaway.

Taking into consideration what you're saying by each vanguard by themselves alone then i mostly agree with your assessments and you're definitely right on about the kits. I think where everyone is having such a negative response is putting them into a competent team setting (which was stated) then that is where the "he's OP or weakest" kind of goes off rails for some. As venom, ive noticed that instead of trying to hit enemies with your left click when they are close to you, just melee. It does crazy damage and its much easier to hit. And as Hulk i find, holding the jump button down at all times helps a lot as well. That way, you always have your incredible leap ready to go. Also incredible leap can pull flyers out of the air and ground them long enough to get your stun off and kill them.

I've used that venom tip myself. I play on controller so I changed his melee button. I swapped his bonus health ability to the right stick and his melee to R1. This feels better when I have to aim around while melee attacking with him

I would have liked to hear you talk more about Groot’s ultimate and how it pairs so well when timed with DPS, as well as highlighting the extra damage you can do with the walls when down. He’s my main when not playing Penny and when I realized how using the walls to not only trap a player but extra double dps made it a game changer for me, plus the ult can combo amazingly with like Jeff or any AoE based ult from a dps.

Pro tip with thor: Throw, bash, awaken → target squishy, lightning realm , Surge, bash, Awaken, lighting realm and repeat. dont use lightning realm if there are no enemies to hit close by. you only really waste a thor Force if you use one without landing a bash after. as a rule of thumb try to keep at least two charged at all times ( 🔨🔨❌ like this) if you surge then bash an enemy you'll get it back and regen of the third will give you awakening again. the idea is to be in awakening as much as possible during fights since you get higher dmg out and bonus shield. I seems like video Creator doesn't like thor very much (he put him last and didn't have much good to say about him.) And thats understandable, Thor's mobility isn't as bad as he kind of portrays it to be. Thor can get in and out of fights quickly with surge, its about knowing when to fall back and keeping track of your healers at all times. If your healers die as thor, you die.

WARNING: Way too long comment. Well personally I think you just didn't give Magneto enough credit. Surprise, I know, but let me at least give my opinion unlike other's. His shield is phenomenal in my eyes. 3 seconds of indestructible shield when fully charged. Takes like 10 seconds to charge fully, so you are getting a 3 second shield like every 12 seconds. Add a 300hp bubble in that same time-frame, he can get to where he wants to be if you really feel inclined to. Just like with Strange, you can walk through chokes with your shield. It's on a 3 second cool-down so you can even play somewhat reactionary. Block a strong single burst ability/ult, you only need 1 second of indestructible shield to do that. The bubbles are amazing for supporting flankers, like that's just gonna always be a boon IMHO. When pressured he can bubble himself and the knock-back is nice to kite melee attackers with. He isn't a complete sitting duck when dove. He has less pressure that isn't really wrong. He likes his natural cover. But I wouldn't say he's the worst Vanguard because he is of the poke variety. He's a variety of Dr. Strange in my eyes and that's not a bad thing to be. He's just not the most exciting Vanguard to play, Dr. Strange has the better ult and fun with portals. Solid Vanguard all around and I feel there are Vanguards with way bigger niches that make it weird to me to call him the worst of the bunch.

Also worth noting with groot, he has a 3 hit melee combo that can knock the enemy up on the 3rd hit. If you get rumbly and throw fisty cuffs with groot, if you use the vine attack and immediately hit the melee, it will cancel the animation and you can fit an extra attack inbetween the vine pokes. That in combination with the wall attacks groot is a menace in 1v1s with other tanks and dps

Thor tip, if you primary than throw hammer at same time it will animation cancel and you get a big hit. Follow up with 1 more primary and you are still full hammer to than cleanup target.

some tips for groot is that he can cast two of the small walls at once if ya hold down the shift key and then aim where ya want them his melle attack also does a small knock up on the 3 hit of the combo as well also kinda surprised groot cant regen health in any way as he quite litterally nearly killed him self to protect the guardians of the galaxy in their movie yet he was able to regenerate him self that and his a walking plant, and plants can regrow them selves etc

Thor is my main but I played with a full squad of friends the other day and nobody wanted to heal and I got lasered consistently. I think his electric field cooldown could be shortened by like another second to improve his survivability and make him a more popular Vanguard. He's pretty good already for sure, but there's no reason why he shouldn't be as tanky as Venom especially when he has half the mobility.

Peni is the best tank in the game in my opinion. The key is to keep your webs on the ground so you can gain health and knowing when to push up. No reloading and you can shoot the mines like grenades. She has good synergy with flyers.

When Groot is close to the walls they become active with secondary effects. The thorn ones attack enemies and the iron one--what do you know, it heals him if you cause damage to enemies when close to it. Indeed, it heals you if your allies cause damage close to it. Rather than using the wall to try and block incoming fire, I put the iron one at the side. Now enemies have to choose to either attack the wall to stop my healing while also exposed to allied fire, or try and fight through loads of extra healing (which gives him blue health up to around 1100). People who don't know this about Groot will simply ignore what they see as "misplaced" walls, and then wonder why you haven't taken any damage.

You didnt explain Thor very well. You can dash in and then have a few seconds to melee someone to get the thorforce back instantly and that is the key to him. I still think he is weaker then others but he can be good if paired with a more main tank and you can be a disruptor kind of like cap imo

I personally disagree that this is a sound strategy. Using Thorforce as an initiation is a waste of Thorforce. The goal should be to get into the fray and immediately use your most disruptive mechanics, not sit around swinging your hammer for 2 seconds before you can do anything. This is the fundamental misunderstanding of Thor is that he should be flying into combat. However, I absolutely agree he's an awesome 2nd disruptor with a proper defense-first tank.

@LegacyGamingUS you get the thorforce back during the 2 seconds your skills are on cd with 1 melee hit, and have a 100hp shield from casting it! Don't be a drain on healers and run in, please! Thor is not the best already and telling people to play him in a insufficient way will make him seem even worse! After every cast the next melee hit restores a thorforce AND you get 100hp shield! Plus e will restore all thorforce if you got in to melee and hit people, also e not on the 2 second cd so you have time to cast it. It's not an opinion, it's statically and factually a better way to play him, just trying to help.

You're wrong about doctor stranges damage. He does more damage than most tanks if you can hit your shots then you can finish them off with the dark magic explosion. I recommend trying it in the target range, and you'll see what i mean. He is probably the best tank right now.

I beg the differ. My main in overwatch, was a tank (sigma).. 90% of the time I’m mvp. Sooooo. 😁.. highest kill, hero damage etc..

i feel like most of the other tanks works better as offtanks / 2nd tanks. The worst part about playing tank is your healers become your crutch. I'd rather heal the team myself at that point

Your Thor tips are bad. You don't mention that after his hammer throw or charge his basic restores a full Thor force as long as you hit within 5 seconds. So if you charge in and then hit you have 3 Thor force, you can then awaken and when that's over hit lightning realm to recover Thor force. You can also animation cancel his basic with his hammer throw and get 2 hits almost instantly. You can also charge hit 3 times charge or hammer throw for massive damage and displacement.

Some very nuanced tips, but good ones. I will counter that most casual players will never be able to grasp this level of detail in a game like this. What you're talking about is min/maxing the character which is something only a fraction of players will ever be able to master.
