Okay, I have been writing and recording my own music since literally 1987, in the old Tascam Porta 1 era, and this video is the most helpful 13 minutes of mixing and mastering instruction in all that time. Concise and to the point. I have written about 400 songs and can hash out a decent tune, but have long been terrible at this aspect. I have been radically underusing Logic to say the least. Thanks a million. Now to go remix and remaster...everything. LOL.

Chloe Moser fair warning mixing is a slightly subjective art. Each song is different and can be mixed differently so one tutorial won’t work for EVERY track

@@iluhyou7707 ^This is very true. There are, however, definitely some basics that are a good place to start like understanding how to EQ different instruments.

I use the master level at the top right of logic - I pick a level, any level, and lock it in and see how each separate track (vocals, piano, horns, drums etc.) reaches, passes or doesn't get to the mark I set. I just set the mark with my eye - pic a db. I use that as I listen to each part in "solo" (s) mode. Then I ignore the level in the window and use just my ear with all the parts playing at once. Don't over think it, most of it is common sense. Then, when it sounds fairly decent and even, I bounce it and make an MP3 and listen to it on various music systems (cell phone, laptop, car stereo etc.) then I go back and re adjust again, and again etc.

You should get 'Punisher' by Denise for tape saturation. In addition, the Exciter in 'Neutron 3 Elements' can be nice when used sparingly. :)

An alright sub for the first plug in, imo, is the stock overdrive plug in, set drive to 0 and make sure it's at 20k, bring the gain down a DB or 2 and it adds just a subtle, soft clip distortion to the master

Hi, enjoyed your video. A couple of Quick questions. I noticed that in some videos the technician is mastering after they bounce the final mix, and in your case not so. Does it matter. Also, when I try to master there is no place in the master channel to add plug ins. I can only add them to the output channel. Any suggestion why this is so? Greg
