Tbh, for me, it's quite easy to talk to someone that is really strangers. But once I met someone who I somehow know (maybe just name, or a lil about them) I started to panicked how to talk to them. Idk why this happened, but it keeps happened.

I feel and have the exact same issue. I'm working on solving this by reading the news paper and mention something I've read about. If they don't engage in your conversation it's their problem, and you should not be responsible for their entertainment. Then also be quiet and work on being comfortable, being quiet.

Oh man, all the flashbacks from the networking events when I was trying to find a job as a student and when I already got a job. Honestly, it is terrifying even for an extrovert. Social gathering is pretty scary especially you are alone and you don't know anyone there. I am currently experiencing the same thing at work as I have a hard time participating during work meetings. Not because I don't want to but because I either don't know what to say or I am always getting too in my head and I am waiting for the perfect opportunity to speak. I like your tips about not hesitate too much and anticipate a good outcome. As most of the time, speaking up will only yield a good result and people will kinda forget what you say soon so no need to hesitate too much! Thanks for the tips!

@@SocialConfidenceMastery My biggest struggle is communicating through my eyes. Since we all wear our masks around each other, there is a lot I'm missing when I'm speaking with someone and vise versa... just because we can't see our facial expressions! :/ If I was to read and react through this nonverbal transaction, I think it would make my conversation so much more clear, simple and direct! Thank you for this! I struggle with conversations a lot these days. I used to be so good at them when I was a kid. Part of the reason why i had a lot of friends but that died down really fast at highschool. it's like a factory reset. I didn't know how to even speak and have friends. My voice just bailed on me too. Even now at home, i still suck but i hope i get better. I'm going to see my friends this Saturday. I really hope to be able to practice there and be more myself without becoming a clam shell.

A lot of our social anxiety has to do with our subconscious fear of authority (the pack leader / loud one) ... be on their good side by using your talents (like giving them answers for a test or something) and they will naturally like you and support you! :) (assuming you’re in a good group of friends)

i hung out for the first time in 4 years, it was with someone i've known for 8 years but haven't oficially met irl too (we live 15 minutes away from eachother) he had 2 other people over, when he told me that i already thought "hm i wonder how that's gonna go" im more of a listener. I can feel very included in the conversation without actually speaking, and i find too much comfort in it and i dont always realize that that is happening, i really do think along with them, i just dont say anythting until someone directly looks at me or mentions me. I asked him the day after what he thought of it, he said he had fun but was sad bc i gave such short replies. He told me multiple stories, and i really enjoyed them. I'm just never sure what to say, i always try to take the story apart and see what i can comment on, but sometimes it just isn't a lot. I definitely want to work on how to speak with people (btw i have no friends) bc i now realize how important it actually is. I just hope it wasn't a major setback for him that he may not want to invite me again, but only time will tell. Until then I will work on my social skills and think about what I can say in certain situations. I NEED THIS TO WORK lmao Edit: We met up again but then just the two of us. Haven't heard from him since, it was nice while it lasted lol

"Knowing how to be socially confident, or communicating with people well, socializing with people successfully is so important. It’s unfortunate, too bad, tragic, because the majority of the education we get in school, is academics like Chemistry, Physics, or Math, History. However in the real world, none of those things really matter. It’s really your ability to inspire, communicate, to lead, and engage people that’s going to move you in upper management if you’re climbing a corporate ladder, and what gets you a date if you’re single, befriend new people, and you want to put yourself out there, and even build a brand new network to advance professionally if you’re in a new city. That’s what it means to me." I wholeheartedly agree or just never truer words have been said or spoken
