@8:00 "you have to remain 5cm off the white line..." Yeah, this is what an F1 driver is all about. Coming in to that corner at speeds that would make me blackout (even in a road car), and you're measuring centimetres to avoid a sliver of paint because it's a bit damp... It's at this point I'd like to give a shout out to the guys at the back of the grid - they might not be winning races, but they are still doing the same thing in a car that they can't even trust. My favourite track is Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. It was my first and only F1 race, and it also came just after the birth of my first child. It was 2011 and one of the best races ever, especially since I was a Button fan. I couldn't believe the sound of hte V8 engines, we could hear them from miles away from the track, and trackside they would shake your body. My father in law and I sat out in the rain forever waiting for the restart and were rewarded with an amazing finish, especially since we were sitting at the Turn 6 stands and went crazy when Vettel half spun with Button chasing him. It was so excited I watched the race again at home.

Thanks, Nico. The wet lap was very educational. The thing that surprises me most about your commentary is how many times you said to limit the upshifts and downshifts when the tires are being loaded to produce lateral grip. I had previously thought that the shift algorithms for F1 gearboxes would manage torque during the transients and allow the driver to shift without concern for upsetting the car. And you also said at the start of the lap to drive in one gear higher than you would in the dry. During the wet lap, you were also adjusting your line to keep the outside wheels of the car off of the laid-down rubber, and to avoid turning in standing water. These are all kinds of things that I do in my old Camaro, so I feel validated! I'm going to link this to my track buddies, then maybe they won't think I'm crazy for driving off-line in the rain.

Adversary Fracture i’d need more info like assists and that but if you lift off slightly just as you enter the right hander you might not loose it, if not try being smoother with handling

@@joshhawkins8394 typically I leave it in 7th gear and just lift about 50% for a few seconds through the middle.

Would be really cool to see you do a race and talk through your decisions of when and where to overtake

I totally love silverstone, with the history in the track and its width, there are quite a few overtake attemps all over the place taking different lines, also, magets and beckets, my favorite corners in formula one💯

Great question and not an easy anwser. If I had to pick one I’d have to say Monaco. I love the tight fast cornering and the walls feeling like your driving in a construction zone at 200. The track also has a level of class that is second to none. When I think of F1 I think of the best in the world, the elite, and that’s what Monaco is known for and exudes. Monaco and F1 go hand in hand for me. Where else are you going to have an entire marina of super yachts watching cars flying by? But the most importantly is it’s one of the most challenging and I love that. Side note I love the videos Nico. I don’t follow much on KZbin but these track walkthroughs are pure gold. Keep it up man!!

Spa is such a beautiful track to watch racing. You can walk all the way around seeing racing from different viewpoints. My favorite to visit. LeMans is epic, but so big and not as beautiful.

My favorite track: spa because I actually took the bus to school over the bus stop chicane 🚌
