Also, three finger tap on link to open in new tab. (again similar to middle mouse button click).

This is so great! Thanks for sharing. I did notice that 3 finger click opens it in a new tab but you don't leave your current page, and 2 finger also opens it in a new tab but you enter the link right away.

I've been using chromebooks for six years that have touch displays so I haven't had a need to use the trackpad or the keyboard shortcuts much at all. I'm now making an effort to learn and use them and this video is a great help. Thanks.

I've always tapped. Ever since tapping became a thing on trackpads, I've tapped. However, seeing that you click, I decided to give it a try. I never knew you could do two and three-finger clicks?! I think am sold on clicking. No more accidental one and two-finger taps.

Your explanation of tap to drag has saved me so much frustration. I have used Chromebook that works great aside from the actual click of the track pad. Dragging windows around was a glitchy annoying process. This resolves my biggest frustration.

I dug out my old Apple Magic Trackpad (first version) and lo and behold, I can actually use it on my Lenovo Chromebook Duet, and it gives me a bigger trackpad space to use than the pad included on the keyboard. Same gestures as well!
@brianbatch95694 жыл бұрын
@Andrew Booth I don't seem to have those issues. Once I connected the trackpad via Bluetooth I never lost the connection. Perhaps a restart helps?
@brianbatch95694 жыл бұрын
@Andrew Booth The only other thing I could possibly suggest is to make sure you have the latest/greatest ChromeOS build installed. What's so interesting about this trackpad is that I cannot get it to connect to my iPad Pro 2015 12.9" tablet. I guess it's a finicky device. Since I did get the Magic Trackpad to work with my Lenovo, I use it more than I ever used the thing on a Mac, which is why I bought the thing. It's convenient in that I use my Chromebook on a small table and vs. a mouse, I can use the trackpad more efficiently than rolling a mouse around in a small space. Good luck on your connection! I hope it works for you.
@brianbatch95694 жыл бұрын
OK--I found a solution. (1) Go into Settings (the app, not the menu from the lower right) and navigate to your Bluetooth settings. (2) Click the three-dot menu icon next to Apple Trackpad and select Delete. (3) Turn off Bluetooth on both your trackpad and your Chromebook. (4) Hold the button on the Magic Trackpad until the light blinks, indicating the pad is seeking a bluetooth connection. (5) Turn on Bluetooth (while still in the Settings app), and Apple Trackpad will come up in unconnected devices. It might take a minute. (6) Click Apple Trackpad WHILE AT THE SAME TIME having a finger quickly tapping the trackpad until a connection is made to the Chromebook. If (6) fails, repeat from step (3) above. That should help fix it! At least it did for me when I recreated your issue.

A lot of the new stuff they add in are pretty simple once you know that they are there. I suppose for someone like me who just does web business stuff, it is a blessing that there is not a million tutorial pop-ups explaining this new feature and that new feature at every new update but then you venture on some guide or another months later and learn some of the things you have been missing out on using because you have not paid much attention to what the new updates have actually been bringing. I honestly really appreciate the infectious value Chromebooks and Surface tablets have brought to society. They are a farcry better than the Netbooks of yesteryear.
Thanks, that was so worth watching for the 3-finger click and tab switching! Got a Chromebook (14c from HP, I think) for the first time for my son's homeschooling this year, and I use it almost as much as him :-)

I'm very disappointed by my Chromebook. It's so stupid that when there needs to be a scroll bar within a website (when there is a menu of things to select and scroll through for example) only with window scroll bar will show, no matter how much I hover over the websites scroll bar. Also scrolling through apps like Netflix or Amazon Prime Video there seems to be no way to control it. It very frequently scrolls back to the top of the page on it's own as if I've flicked the page as you do on a touchscreen. The most annoying thing of all though has to be it's constant dropping of the WiFi connection at random. If I hesitate on a website when going through pages it's dropped the connection and I need to reconnect again. It appears that it's a battery saving feature that can't be switched off.

be very careful/gentle with the USB-C ports, never tug or yank the cables or use cables that are too 'rigid', Acer did a crap job they are poorly soldered/secured; i just replaced 4 on 2 units and they are a royal pain... compared to other brands, 1 unit is still on the table opened up and i keep passing it. i'm starting to consider refusing to repair these machines. Double tap to drag is broken on Pixelbook and Pixelbook Go if tap to click is enabled. There is a delay they added in, which means that most often than not you will activate dragging. Other chrome books I have does not have this. Also I rather we can configure the three finger swipe that acts the same way as MacOS. I don't like it that it switches tabs.
