Very good advice but do you think that the concept of darker shoes with darker suits goes all the way to all trousers (jeans, chinos, etc.) or applies only to suits as more formal outfits? For example tan shoes with raw denim jeans. Thank you!

My personal choice for charcoal and black is black shoes. But with Navy, I love going dark brown. That just adds to the suit but imo it dresses it down just a little bit. But as you guys said, you can pretty much never go wrong with black shoes with a suit. (usually)

Sorry guy's it is a sin to wear a suit without socks. To go sockless should be reserved for laidback cloths. Casual cloths in the same styling as your suit is ok. A dark jacket and light trousers or reversed is acceptable. The shoes should be soft in look and avoid black. How one dresses is of course down to the individual and I respect that.

Again, we have so-called men's fashion aficionados going with the idea that a black suit is the "most versatile" which is absolutely and unequivocally WRONG! Even this video is totally asinine in the fact that you are talking about matching shoes. Therefore, what color shoes go with a more "versatile black suit"..oh Black or gray and that is really it! Now, what shoes goes with a charcoal or navy suit...oh Brown, Blue, Black, walnut, etc. Question: When you say lace-up do you mean Oxford or Derby? Answer: When you talk about shoes makes sure you don't generalize them and call them by their right names. If you are going to help people with style then please make sure you do your research and explain your research process to your readers or listeners.
