I think so many people have issues trying to find their right shade! The media makes it more complicated than it really is. When I do makeup on my clients I have to have a big range of shades if it’s my first time with that person. With my regulars I know right away! You did a great job explaining this. I love picking other makeup artist’s brains about certain makeup items! ❤️

BEST ever tutorial on matching that I've ever seen! Thank you! I am a young 57 yr old who's worn makeup all my life. After surviving cancer in 2020, i have had the hardest time matching this "indoor skin" I have now. The "W"s i used no longer work and I have a whole drawer full of "N"s and "C"s I cannot use. I know this will help. I have found one "golden" that is perfect, so as the warmer weather comes and I am not confined this year, I know to just go from there.

Very thorough and lovely explanation... however, I found this simple explanation useful as well.. "as per beauty experts, your foundation must be one or two shades lighter than your skin tone. This is because when you use bronzer or contour then the foundation will blend it all together and give the perfect look to your face." This may not work for everyone, but I found it might be of help. It certainly makes sense!

@@NinaUbhi1 I know I’m late to the party - but do you find that undertone interpretation differs across brands ? For example, I’m neutral, and in some brands that’s literally ashy beige and done are yellow etc 😢😢😢🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ Thank you xxx
@theresas25202 жыл бұрын
Now that people buy makeup online more I am hoping that more brands will start offering samples. That would be so helpful! I know that I am neutral and I'm between fair and light. But even then some brands will be too yellow so I make sure I have adjusting drops which are super helpful! Also I think its good to be able to adjust your shade. Physicians Formula has a set that comes in white and brown and I use them all the time since my shade can also change depending on the season.

This is such a useful video thank you! That’s funny I’ve wished for so long that make up companies would sell sample packs of foundations so you can test a bunch and find your perfect shade - it would totally make me more likely to buy their brand in the first place! Planning to head to SpaceNK tomorrow to try the Charlotte Tilbury ones and see if I can find a shade for me. I have a question: do you use a different shade in the summer than winter? My face is more tanned at the moment so my current shade makes me look a bit ghostly 👻 so I’ve just been skipping it this week. Miss the smooth finish of foundation though 😬

Love the detail of your presentations! Not just a great make-up artist but an excellent teacher! Unlike today, I recall how decades ago it was virtually impossible to find a foundation suitable for skin with light olive complexion or undertone since most were variations of unsuitable pinks. In those days, the swatch variations you show were unavailable or non-existent. Fast foreward many years later; I'm glad to see that foundation has become inclusive and has come a long way.

Wow this is hard. As you went through the first step and you saw orange, I saw yellow. And the one on the middle, the 3rd from the top, you said was also orange from Charlotte Tilbury, started to disappear on your skin compared to all of them. So I’m wondering if it’s like a computer and the tv color is off because I typically have a good eye for color as I was a hairdresser and nail tech and I make cards which deals with color. The 2 you got down to look so yellow compared to your skin on my tv. When you put it on it looks perfect. I noticed you’re using a new brush too instead of the beauty blender.

I'm 55 and have always been told to match foundation to the back of your hand, but most make up tik tokkers don't do that, and the lady at the makeup counter at a local store thought that was strange to match it to your hand. So I was beginning to doubt what I had always known, then I come across this video and you're saying what I have always believed. The samples on your hand, from lightest to darkest, my humble opinion, #3 the middle one looks closest to your complexion. 1 and 2 are way too light but that's what I see on a lot of videos.... that they use a colour that looks 5 shades too light for them. I have always thought that foundation is supposed to match your skin colour, and as you rub it in, it essentially "disappears" and makes your skin tone look even and uniform. I have never heard that foundation should match your neck colour but that's what a lot of people seem to say, but I think it makes their face look all washed out and ghostly. The colour you picked made more sense when it was narrowed down to 2. The one you picked "disappeared" into your skin and just evened everything out without looking like you're wearing anything. That's how I was taught to do foundation many many years ago

It’s not that easy when people Of color are stuck with Orange or a deeper orange. 😡 I’m a neutral/ pink so I have to waste money being a chemist trying to get the right shade. The only brand that matched me EXACTLY was Too Face Peach foundation Collection and Of course it’s been discontinued. 😡 I had to buy the last three I could find.
@rashedahh66412 жыл бұрын
Yes😫you have to mix them however I love Maybelline they have more colors and the show deep warm and cool with the foundation colors that helps a lot or you can find a foundation closer to your color and use a better powdered foundation to set the foundation.
