Very interesting, I'm already a nasal breather, and I tried your test and did 40 secs. And carried on breathing normally after. So it certainly helps your breathing.

Following you guys on Spotify and Instagram for some while now. The potcast 164 cold water therapy with Owen was very interesting! I just dived into the whole cold bathing thing, even read the book of wim hof and am enjoying the cold.. So thanks for this very well explained informative video about breathing! Looking forward to the following ones. Subscribed! ;) In case u didn't notice, there was a audio problem at about four minutes or something...

I’m 15 and I’m breathless every second I can hold 36 will power but 7 normally
@Jacko-Breathwork3 жыл бұрын
Hey, yeah when I started by BOLT score (so no will power) was less than 10 seconds. The breathing light exercises and the breathholding that we teach with the Oxygen Advantage will help improve that, reducing your CO2 sensitivity and help you slow breathing down and feel much better. Have you watch videos I've done on that?

I scored 12 sec. I’ve dabbled a little bit with the wim hof method but the hyperventilation stage was difficult for me as I felt I couldn’t get a deep breathe in through my nose. At work, I have bouts where I feel like I can’t catch my breathe so I know the Oxygen Advantage is something is something I want to learn. Thanks for all the value you’re bringing to people’s lives like mine…I’m also on the annual ‘School of Calisthenics’ membership:-) Anyways, where would you suggest I start as far as breathe work?
@Jacko-Breathwork2 жыл бұрын
Hi Nick, yes my BOLT when I started was 9/10 so i know you mean. You need to improve CO2 sensitivity which hyperventilation practise will not do and does actually the opposite. Have you downloaded my Pro Breathwork App and got started with the FREE foundations course yet?
@NickJonesVOTP2 жыл бұрын
@@Jacko-Breathwork No, I didn’t know you had an app so I’ll download that now and try out the free version. Thanks!

I breathe slowly and through my nose even when i’m exercising , but my bolt score is 15 second ! Do you think this is normal ?
@Jacko-Breathwork3 жыл бұрын
It can be a number of factors, what if you general day to day breathing and breathing when you sleep like - these affect it a lot!
@TimBrown-e9l11 ай бұрын
Since this measures the time it takes to have the desire to breathe between breaths, does this mean that healthy people only breathe every 40 seconds?
@th1lak2 жыл бұрын
My BOLT score is highest when I wake up and test myself, but it's significantly lower whenever I test myself throughout the day. Is this normal? Should the BOLT score be fluctuating around like that?
@Jacko-Breathwork2 жыл бұрын
Yes its normal for it to fluctuate during the day which is why its important to compare it to similar times each day. Training, poor sleep, stress, caffeine etc will all effected it through out the day

I dont understand what it means by first desire to breath. I feel like I always want to breath.
