Excellent video content! Sorry for butting in, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you thought about - Schallingora Income Technics Scheme (search on google)? Buddhism is a teaching which shows us how to live a happy, fulfilling, and content life. We truly benefit from the Buddha's teachings when it is practiced in everyday life. The Ten Wholesome Ways 1. NO KILLING 2. No stealing 3. No sexual misconduct 4. No lying 5. No abusive speech 6. No slander 7. No enticing speech 8. No greed 9. No anger and 10. No ignorance/delusion/attachment Constantly chant : Amitabha Buddha, Repentance and Dedication of Merit.

love how they included the shot of the dog. The way peace, mindfulness, contentedness comes to them is why my dog is my best friend and greatest mentor. The same as the cynics (their name sake comes from the word canine, derogatively as it were) and Diogenes taught. To me, much of my Buddhist practice and meditation is to gain back what we lost so long ago as natural animals of this Earth.

I've had nightmares before, where I've woken up terrified. What helps, is to listen to the sounds of home (the fridge humming, or a neighbour's dog barking) and that grounds me and calms me. Also works for panic attacks.

Meditation comes from India. The Gita (Scripture) tells you how to meditate. The Gita says: Thus, by always practicing to keep the mind fixed on Me, the yogi whose mind is subdued attains peace of Nirvana and comes to Me. (6.15). The Bible also says: You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you. Meditation is a synonym for trance, daydream, and dream. In the Bible, God and spirits come to people in dreams and trances. The Gita also says: A person is said to have achieved yoga, the union with the Spirit, when the perfectly disciplined mind becomes free from all desires, and gets completely united with the Spirit in trance. (6.18)

You people have been taught by your parents to cherry pick lines from texts and stretch their meaning don't you? Well let me tell U that in reality there is no spirit, or god. Its just you and your mind. And what Krishna in Gita is telling Arjuna is to keep his mind fixed on parmatama (him) and kill his relatives. Otherwise he will not attain moksha. Its his duty to kill so he has to kill. Even if it's sin or not. So Krishna teaching in gita has nothing to do with yoga poga meditation or whatsoever. Its actually related to killing your relatives.

Try to focus on the tip of nose, feel the breath in and out. If your mind start to wanders go back to focus on your tip of nose and feel the breath. After your mind calm, try to feel the whole body from the top of the head to the bottom of your feet. Feel all the sensation of your body without interupt it. I learned that (vipassana meditation) from the 10 days noble silence retreat and it was wonderful. I still meditate to this day (20 minutes after wake up and before sleep) 🙏 May all beings live happily

It looks like ever Buddhist monk has his own way of meditating. Monk Mangyur teaches not to concentrate while meditating and let thoughts come and go, just be aware of your breathing. I feel his advice more better as its difficult trying to stop thoughts from coming to your mind. It's better rather let them come and go.

Meditation is NOT hurting your self - Meditation is the development of impartiality in and at each and every action that you are performing in day to day living - Not concentrating on on thing that is RAGA according to the Buddha - Concentrating on In hailing and exhaling is NOT Meditation please read the Maha Sathi Pattana Suthra

Interesting - the Zen monks in Japan teach that you should not meditate with closed eyes, but rather with half-closed eyes, because you can either get very sleepy or start hallucinating. I wonder why there is such a difference in meditation practices, I suppose the Japanese version isn't vipassana.
@allmyinterests5139
@allmyinterests5139 3 жыл бұрын
There are many differences in buddhist teachings. Originally the Palicanon states that buddha meditated eyes closed. A great soto zen master (Deshimaru) once said that he thinks you can do both - eyes open if youre sleepy, eyes closed if your mind is turbulent. But normally you should have open eyes. A theravadan Monk said you should close your eyes but open it when youre really sleepy. I think those are both just different approaches. In the end it doesnt really matter since even the zen monks do not „look“ actively, just let the light come in. I personally find meditating eyes closed much more enjoyable but that might be bc I‘m thinking too much. But sometimes when I am really tired I let my eyes stay open. Zen is really into the „right“ posture also. While Theravadan only say cross legs and put oke hand in each other. But when you see deep meditating Monks there, you will notice that they sit very straight too. Its more like a „mind to body“ approach in Theravada and a „body to mind“ approach in Zen. Please notice that you cannot apart mind and body in buddhism its just how I would describe it in dualistic language.

Meditation refers to a set of techniques to enhance attention, emotional awareness, kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, and mental calmness even in difficult situations. Some people find that regular meditation practice helps them be kind to themselves and more caring towards others.

Concentration is meditation ?

@brahslee3820 4 жыл бұрын
It's not actually, there are many types of meditation and almost unlimited variants, there's no correct form or procedure, find what works for you, no too much effort on concentrating, let it be pleasant and natural and just be present and aware.

I feel pressure/tension building up at the center of my forehead (3rd eye location?) when I follow the advice of closing my eyes and focusing on the physical sensation of my breath, in and out of my nose. Sometimes, I have a headache from doing this. What's going on?

When you feel the tension, remind yourself to relax. Observe the sensation for a few seconds and go back to the tip of your nose and the flow of air going in and out. The tension will pass.

Charlie. You have energy stuck in your head. Qi moves to the spot where your awareness is. Focusing in the head area will bring Qi to your head. If you have too much Qi in your head, move to a lower spot, like your lower dantian, and feel the breath energy there instead. Don't keep focusing in the head if you have too much Qi there or you will become insane lol
