Mixing fox farms, Big Bloom (micronutrient) 6tsp, and grow big (nitrogen) 3tsp, Micro-Brew (for healthy root growth) 1/2tsp. I also use cal/mag (because I use R/O water) 1tsp, seaweed extract (for green healthy leaves) 1tsp. To Ph the mix I use baking soda (don't waste your money in "Ph solutions", baking soda is the best thing you can use trust me, easy peasy to make.) I use a 500ml water bottle almost to the top (R/O water, bottle water is fine) and 2tbsp baking soda. You can make any mix ratio you feel just remain consistent always. If you need Ph down use water and vinegar (same ratio as Ph up mix). I got the Ph tester off amazon for like $5.00 works good, but clean after every use with R/O or distilled water (bottle water is fine). You want your Ph to be at/between 6.3 & 6.8. Hope it helps, Like and Subscribe!! Cheers!

Yeah, you are still going to want to flush for the last week or so, which is about typical for all plants. When you flush with just water, the plant will eat all the nutrients out of the leaves, which is a source of clean nutrients. To say it simple, your plant stores food for the times that it doesn't have anything available in the root system. The fan leaves will turn orange/yellow from sucking up the nutrients, but it's okay. After the leaves have all fall colors you should be good to go. I give 3 days dark then trim em ups! Hope this helps.

PH is very important, the plant won't take in any nutrients if the water is too high in base or acid. I have a bunch of those $2 pH pens on hand and some extra batteries, in case something is out of the ordinary with a pH reading. Your plants must maintain a good "potential of hydrogen" at all times. Trust me, those 2$ pH pens are where it's at. EBay for the win.

Have you experienced any nutrient burn using that feeding schedule? Also, do you use the Cal Mag during flowering as well?
@MainelyCannabis
@MainelyCannabis 5 жыл бұрын
Hey! So at one point in time, during veg only, when I wasn't keeping up with flushing like I should, I did have small tip burns. However, I do believe this was from my negligence to do proper flushing. The last 3 years or so have been fault free. I make sure to flush once a week now, and have just amazing results. There are a few tweaks I made, like no grow big during flowering, and I use a little bit less than a 1/4 tsp of the granules (cha ching/bestie,open sesame)... This nutrient line & I work very well together now, No burns or deficiencies, quick references for the amount of PH+ to add. I even find microbrew can sometimes be used to fix fluctuations in PH and/or bring back down the PH if I added too much PH+. I use a soilless mix of (70% Promix, 30% Perlite) . Sorry for the half year wait on a reply!

@Dr_Peeper_ICU

@@kodabear333 This is beyond false. Ca, Mg, and Fe always needed by the plant throughout all stages in life. Under LED lighting even more so. Even more in flower as much of those micro-nutrients have been spent. Of course cheap epsom salt from Walgreens will cover for Mg but for Ca, I just use Calcium Nitrate (depending on stage) or Cal-Mag. That whole Cal magic in veg only is some serious bro-science, and bad bro-science. I've never ever heard that in 15 years of growing. More importantly, get away from these stupid bottle nutes that are 90% water. That's the first sign folks don't know much about plant science.

@ Leonard, all we do is follow the schedule, the whole line is never used all at once. But if that's working for you keep it up! However your plants will not use what is not needed! The entire fox farms line up is used throughout the veg/flower cycle (only use what nutrients you need for the cycle your on). Hope this helps you understand better!

I think I said in there I use reverse osmosis water, if I didn't though, I do use cal mag. I have well water though, so it's more lime and other gunk I try to get rid of. At the end my water is in range of 5 to 13 ppm. Which I'm sure you know is really good, that's close to distilled water (which is zero). 1 teaspoon per gallon of cal mag takes care of anything stripped from r/o process.
@bryanbatton01
@bryanbatton01 7 жыл бұрын

@MainelyCannabis
@MainelyCannabis 7 жыл бұрын
It really depends on how bad your well water is... I like to have zero impurities or faults, and have a hand on all factors of the process. Anything that could effect the plants negatively is out. My well water had too much lime and iron... If your getting more then 100ppm's out the tap you might want to think of an R/O or something comparable..

According to fix farms schedule, 6.3-6.8 pH is the sweet spot, I've known for awhile they like it just a tiny bit more acidic then base.

For flowering, I recently (last 2 years) cut back Grow Big to every 5 or 6 feedings instead of every other, it really just leads to more trimming. If you notice the plants getting a lighter shade of green you might need more Grow Big as well. But yeah a wise man that worked at the same garden center I did told me that trick. Sooooo much less trimming. Cheers :]

You only want to water when necessary, when dry. The plants roots require oxygen, and in soil medium this is attained when the soil/soilless mix dries. You will get root rot if you water everyday (unless your using clay pots, sometimes those dry out fast enough). You want to wait until the soil is almost dry and the plant has not yet gone limp. Hope this helps!

What is the difference between Soil feeding Schedule , Gringo Rasta Soil schedule , and Smart Naturals schedule ? Is one for cannabis and one for vegetables I'm confused ? All 3 schedules are for soil mixes .
@MainelyCannabis
@MainelyCannabis 5 жыл бұрын
A "soil feeding schedule" would be generalized nutrient application guidelines, for plants that use a soil/soilless medium, this could be for vegetating and/or flowering. The Gringo & Smart nutrient schedules would be for their specific line of nutrients offered by the company/brand. These nutrient lines probably have hydroponics and soil/soiless feeding schedules to go with your growing medium (I use soilless mix so I use that feeding schedule). The nutrient charts (feeding schedules) should have relative information on vegetative growth, (such as how many teaspoons per gallon, PH values, days to vegetate) and the same thing for flowering. Most of these mixes could be used for vegetables, however, I assume the feeding schedules are for cannabis/tomatoes (which have about the same growing condition/demands). If I left anything out let me know, or if theres anything else, Cheers

How many gallons should I regularly use?
@MainelyCannabis
@MainelyCannabis 8 жыл бұрын
@ Collin I actually can't remember the last time I used pH down... However the pH up is as you said 2 tbsp to a 16.9 Oz water bottle. However you can experiment with it to suit you better. I add roughly 1.5 tbsp pH + to my 1 gallon mixes and it ph's at 6.6 respectively.. This will all vary in the water you use, I use r/o water so it's easily manipulated... As for the pH down, try maybe a tbsp or two reg vinegar in a 16.9oz water bottle and then use little amounts until you get a feel for it. If your using fox farms line and in flowering stage more then likely you'll just need ph+. Definitely pH your nutri mix before ph+ or ph- you want 6.4 - 6.8 or so. Doesn't hurt to pH your soil as well (after and before adding nutrients).

Watch for nutrient lockout tho as it can happen pretty quickly. 1 key thing I wanna express is there are so many people who see yellow leaves and assume it's nutrient deficiency and panic. 1st check you're tempatures in tent and check your humidity. As this is a major cause to yellowing of leaves and mildew and budrot. Another thing is NEVER EVER touch your girls with bare fingers. The hands are the dirtiest part of the body and also a major cause to introducing diseases to your plants such as mosaic virus. Yeah tiger bloom can be chunky sometimes, I think it depends on how old it is. I tend to order TB from amazon 100% of the time, the garden centers don't seem to sell much of it around my area. In any case it will still work the same, I mix the shit out of it and pour the 2tsp slowly, if some makes it in, it's no biggie from what I've seen. I almost wrote fox farms about this same question though. I haven't noticed it in my new bottle, but I only get the 32oz, just in case it does depend on how fresh it is. I wouldn't personally, just because there is already a NPK value to consider. I think the plants might burn a little if you feed the full amount. Maybe try 1/2 of the recommended. I would fill a 1 gal jug following the fox farms schedule, then pour half into an empty jug and fill the rest with water, then PH, just to be safe. This is the same feed I use for auto flowers in promix, but it worked great and you only have to mix and use half the nutrients. If they start to get a light green color, then you'll want to raise it to maybe 2/3 strength. If you notice any burning on the tips of your plants, bump it back to 1/3 strength. Let me know how it goes 😁 cheers

@MainelyCannabis
@MainelyCannabis 5 жыл бұрын
@@DaddiesLittleGirl03 Hey! Yeah sounds like you have it right. Start with 1/4 strength, make sure the soil gets dry (this is when the roots take in oxygen), I used 18/6 light cycle. It's best to plant Auto's in the pot/bucket they will stay in for the remainder of their life. If the tap root reaches the bottom you could end up with a "bud on a stick". If your starting your plant in a 5 gal bucket, try to just water the top portion of the bucket that the plant is occupying (maybe 1 cup when the plant is 6 inches tall or so) and keep an eye out in a few days to water/feed again. Gently poke your finger or use a humidity meter or lifting the pot/bucket is a good way to check. This is what I go by for watering ratios using Pro-Mix/Perlite (70/30): 1-2 foot plant = 1/4 gallon H2o/Nutes 3-4 foot plant = 1/2 gallon H2o/Nutes 5-6 foot plant = 1 gallon H2o/Nutes As far as the wet/dry cycle goes, during veg it will probably be 3-5 days until the medium is dry and ready for nutrients again this is under standard T5 fluorescent lighting. MH/HPS will speed this up. For flowering (under Hight Pressure Sodium lighting) the wet/dry cycle could be anywhere from 2-3 days. Possibly a little longer using FFOF but the perlite will help a bit. All this information changes if you use photo seeds. If I missed anything just let me know :] You got this! Cheers

Use tiger bloom and big bloom at least. I recommend stopping grow big at this point so you don't get leafy buds and leaf curl/claw. You'll want to get a soil ph tester and like you said, always have your ph between 6.3 and 6.8 or you could get nutrient lockout, which could herm (hermaphrodite)your plants. Having soil with an NPK value is hard in some cases because fox farm is more meant for soilless mixes and/or hydro grows. Because if there is already an NPK ratio in soil, you have to account for that when adding more nutrients. If you start with a zero (NPK) level, it's easy to know how much to feed the plants without burning the plant or locking up roots. Less is better at this point. I would do some experiments and find a good level, start with maybe 1tsp per gallon tiger bloom (if that's all your going to use) and go by how the leaves look. if they look a little light in color bump up to 1.5tsp per gallon. Remember to let the roots get air too (make sure the soil is dry before you water/feed again) root rot is bad and low oxygen to the roots will slow everything down greatly. Let me know if this helps or not. Cheers!

Yeah you can introduce a light mix. I use a water bottle (16oz) and put maybe a little less than half a tsp Big Bloom. I would hold off maybe another week for the grow big (just to make sure the roots don't burn), and I give a little less then recommended to start on this too. It's always best to start less, especially when they're still sprouts. Let me know how it goes! If you have any other questions I should be around all day. Cheers!

@MainelyCannabis
@MainelyCannabis 5 жыл бұрын
The wet dry cycle is critical. This could lead to stagnant plants and/or root rot. If your plants have only been utilizing the nutrients in the soil, than I would say you should add nutrients to the regime after your dry cycle. The fox farms oceans forest is good for transplanting seeds/clones, I'm not sure about using 100% ocean forest for the whole grow though. It's good to have a light fluffy soil that will breath well (for indoor anyway). Most soil mixes retain water really good, which I believe is good for outdoor plants. I go for the most wet/dry cycles possible per week. Sorry for the suuuuper late reply! Cheers!

@MainelyCannabis
@MainelyCannabis 4 жыл бұрын
Hey EP! I just Pro-mix and perlite. The reason for this is there is zero NPK to start with. Sometimes it can be hard to account for overtime nutrients that are blended in with these mixes. It can also be expensive with little to no benefit. This is assuming your going to be using liquid nutrients and logging your progress as you go. I like to make a chart of when I started the grow, when I went into flower, what I fed & how much, and WHEN I fed. This will help if you ever run into problems with your grow, start with less and see what they can take (sometimes it can take a week to notice burning, curling or lock-out). For Seedlings I Use the same mix about 60-70% promix 40-30% Perlite. I give a very light amount of big bloom (I'll open a 16oz water and fill the cap a little then then to the top with Big Bloom, then I pour it into a medicine cup to PH), if your using Reverse Osmosis water make sure to add Cal/Mag. Some people just use tap water, I think either way works I'm just very picky with everything. Let me know if there's anything else, Cheers!

@MainelyCannabis 6 жыл бұрын
Hmm, I can't think of a time when they did burn. Are you using a soil-less mix or some kind of soil that has a nutrient value to it already? Are you flushing with water every other watering? The ratios that are listed by fox farms are known as a safe level. However, finding the correct mix for your specific plants/grow op is what I'd recommend. Your plants will only be able to grow bigger, better, faster if you have all three of the plants intake elements at equal levels. An example would be adding more nutrients to your mix, but not having the O2 or the lighting system to account for an equal ratio, meaning you would need to get O2 bags (spore bags or something) and bump up from 600W to 1000w lighting system (the roots might also need more oxygen). These are the only reasons I can think of (off the top of my head) to why your plants might be burning. As for a picture of my plants, my profile picture is my crop from 5 years ago. But I am going to be making more videos soon as college is almost over and I'm getting some time back. So I'll post my new crop so you can get a visual on it. Hope this helps man, Cheers!

I would say it's possible, however if you use the micro nutrient (big bloom) you will assure your plant is getting all essential nutrients. I make sure there is small chance error. I use a ProMix (soilless mix) and perlite. About a 70/30 mix (30% perlite). You are correct about the soil, if you have high levels of unaccounted for nutrients, then it can be difficult to calibrate to the correct NPK. You could burn your plants or kill your clones/seeds. I'm not saying it's no possible, I just like to be safe (and it's really not needed, save your money). When you have a soilless mix, your base level is neutral (PH, PPM and NPK), so whatever your PH and PPM is for your nutrient mix, it will reflect in your planting medium. It makes it easy to keep full control of your grow. Cheers!

Yeah, you want to mix in order though, micro (Big Bloom) to macro (Grow Big and/or Tiger Bloom). And any other supplements like seaweed extract or cal mag (if you use any of this) add those before the micro nutrient. After everything is mixed up and shaken well, Ph your liquid, like you said. If you doing Hydroponics, you will probably be asked to not mix concentrated nutrients into a single gallon container.
