Great video, I’m just about to tackle my first tile/grout job diy style and I like that you went step by step. Thanks for posting.

Glad it was helpful! It's not as easy as it looks! Start grouting in a corner that is not as visible to get the through the learning curve.

3.5 oz of distilled water to a pound of dry grout. Before measuring out the dry grout mix the bag thoroughly. easy, peasy.
@AKAAAK3 ай бұрын
Exact same way I did it..... by weight. The way he did the math seemed it was almost ~5 oz of water per LB of dry grout. 48-54 oz of water for a 10 LB bag equates to 4.8-5.4 oz water per LB. Am I right or am I wrong 🤔?

So how many Oz of water did it actually take?
@larrymoore5264 Жыл бұрын
Or cups?
@davidpatrick3533 Жыл бұрын
3 cups of grout to 1 cup of water

What happens if it’s mixed too loose and you put it down on the floor?
@davidpatrick3533 Жыл бұрын
Might not harden as strong. I would dig it out and start over
@seamusblack5876 Жыл бұрын
Completely lost you said 3 to 1 but then didn't do 3 to 1?
@davidpatrick3533 Жыл бұрын
Target ratio is 3:1, sometimes it varies slightly based on your accuracy of measurements. I start with a ratio 3:1 and then add what is needed to get desired consistency.
@nmjabour2 жыл бұрын
this looks like a 2:1 ratio in the video?
@davidpatrick35332 жыл бұрын
it's typically a 3:1 ratio

OH....clean your tools & buckets afterwards. Grout will set up even when setting in water.
@andielliott77212 жыл бұрын
That's what I was looking for. The instructions on the bag are way to small to read accurately.

I always thought there was 16 ounces in a pound
@davidpatrick3533 Жыл бұрын
Correct, by weight, 16 oz = 1 lb. And luckily for water, 16 oz measured by volume also = 1 lb. Since for most people it's easier to measure water by volume, that's why I converted to volume for water.

U just wastedd 5 mins just adding the amount of water they say to add. How about follow directions,then add a pinch of powder. Time is money

I agree, but I think most people watching this are Weekend Warriors :)

1 pound is 16 ounces times 10 pounds equals 160 ounces.
@saffron-scotchuniversalone20422 жыл бұрын
So confusing. Guess it’s not possible to just tell us how much in cups or ounces of water ratio?
@davidpatrick35332 жыл бұрын
I thought I made it pretty clear in the video and description. In case you missed: it's a 3 to 1 Ratio of grout to water. For example, for every 3 cups of grout, add 1 cup of water. That will get you close.
