Genuine question: Why do engineers name group tracks / channels "Something Master"? It's confusing for other engineers that understand "Master" to mean something else entirely. Any reason to not call it "Vocal Bus" or "Vocal Group" or "Vocal Channel"? What does the "Master" mean?

It depends, but I get your point. I personally like to call them masters, and my actually master bus call ik “2-bus” or Stereo Out.
