How to: Mixed Media Canvas - Nana3

This is the 8" x 8" canvas I created for my 500 Subscriber give away winner, Mary Ann otherwise known as Nana 3. She received her canvas yesterday so I'm now at liberty to show you how it was created. Oh my goodness....I just watched Nana open this, you do need a tissue it was very heartfelt. What a beautiful piece Mike and how much thought and care went into it. I am going to try and make one and not be scared to use black gesso. Thanks for sharing!

It was one of the charms my company used to sell. I had a few left over when we stopped selling them so brought them home. I imported them from China but I think you can get them still on EBay.

You are using a hot glue gun to adhere to the canvas but does it not cause problems with the heat gun when you dry the paint I have a fear of all my pieces dropping off before my eyes lol. love your tutorials.

Hi Edwina, the beauty of using acrylic paint is that it dries with very little heat in no time at all. If your heat gun is re-melting the glue then you're probably holding the heat gun over for too long. Try it in short bursts but make sure you pre-heat the gun, don't do it from a cold start. Mx

anniexhx It's a really inexpensive glue gun that I picked up for very little money. It's a brand here in the UK that can be bought in most craft stores. I'm not sure if they are available anywhere else in the world. Any cheap hot glue gun would work! Mx
