I’m trying to upgrade my 3Ds to a 3DS XL. I wanted to keep the sd card in my 3DS and put it in the XL. The only way I know how to go about this (through tutorials I’ve seen) is to switch the 3ds files onto a smaller different SD card and then use the original wiped one to mod the XL and then transfer the saves from my 3DS to the XL. Will this work and is there an easier way to do this? Hope this all makes sense

So I have actually done this recently and it is a total pain in ass lol but it is possible and still less hassle then reinstalling everything again. This is how I did it: 1. Modded my new console with CFW, so both consoles are modded. 2. Backed up all of my saves with checkpoint (on my old 3ds). 3. I did a system transfer over wifi (the official one via nintendo - it still works) but it wont transfer any illegitimate titles or hmb (they can be restored later). 4. I then copied the Nintendo 3DS folder from the old SD card to the new sd card. 5. Then installed faketik on n3ds (google it there is a Github page) and restored all of the homebrew and games. Then restored all saves via checkpoint. I do actually have a n3DS xl which I haven't modded yet - I could possibly make a video covering the process if you are still struggling but it would take me a week or so to pull it together. hi at 8min13 when i plug back in the sd card after injecting it doesnt do nothing it just acts like a normal sd card it didnt change anything the menu or red screen doesnt come on

i tried a couple of videos but it always comes to this i inject it in the sd card then plug the sd card back without tuching anything and still does like i havent done anything new

Hey man, so this seems to be 1 of three things that is causing your issue. 1. SD card isn't formatted as Fat32. 2. Windows-MSET9.bat file isn't on the root of your SD card. It must be on the root of the SD card and it must be ran from there. 3. There is no "Nintendo 3DS" folder on the root of your SD card (make one if there isn't). If none of the above solves the issue I would suggest trying with a different SD card.

Is there any difference between the methods or is the final outcome the same? Because the other method seems easier

If I read it right you only need to load the files on a SD Card once without Python and just do some simple things on the 3DS itself

Yes there is a massive difference to the methods but not all methods are applicable to all consoles. In the video I did mention that if you have a new 3DS or 2DS then there could be a different method available to you and you can confirm this by visiting the 3ds.hacks.guide website. The reason I chose to cover this method (MSET9 exploit) is because its applicable to all console models on latest firmware both new and old and the method has remained consistent for a long time. Most of the other methods i.e. browserhax, soundhax etc.. are specific to certain console models on certain firmware versions and the process seems to change quite often. MSET9 probably has the lowest risk overall too as it's pretty much impossible to mess it up. And all methods require you to remove the SD card multiple times.

@ ok thank you so much!! Just to make sure: Is the result after setting this up the same as e.g. super-skaterhax? Because I read the guide on super-skaterhax from the website, and if I‘m not mistaken this method seems easier. But if you recommend this more I‘ll try

@@ben_lks_ No worries at all :) And yeah you are spot on super-skaterhax is the alternative method for n3ds on 11.17. I may do a video on super-skaterhax as I have a n3ds xl which I have not modded yet.
