How to Mod Subnautica PC 2024 and 2025

I changed the Title for 2025. This guide will be good moving forward. The only way the info will need to change is, if the core Mods make some drastic changes. Like when SMN helper went away and was replaced ect ect. So until the core Mods change, this guide is good.

really good tutorial, only thing is that making a new temp folder is unnecessary. either unzip directly to the place where the mods will end up or install WinRAR if you really think its not going to immediately have the right file path.

okay, what would i have done wrong if the mod manager wasn't showing up in game? I downloaded it to the exact correct place in the folders, but when i opened the game, it didn't have a "Mod Manager" option. I'm gonna try installing a mod to even see if i got it working.

Mod Manager itself is the problem. I've had lots of people have the same problem. Best I can say is, make sure everything is updated, check the dates maybe an update came out and you missed it. Make sure it's in the correct folder. Try making a post on Nexus, right on mod manager. But don't get your hopes up. I've ready there posts, and it doesn't look like anyone is responding to them :( Onl plus side is, this is optional mod. But it would mean you have to manualy download all your mods

Hey Prime, I really like your video and you do a great job of explaining how to mod this game. Question for you, I noticed on another video I watched, that he installed the Bepinex tweaks and configuration manager. You didn't put either of these in. Do you recommend putting these in or are these obsolete as well? Just wanted to know before I get started. Thanks for your help

They are both good. Here what you should do. When you click on "Requirements" for both Bepinex Tweaks and config manager. Scroll down to "mods requiring this file" There's a good chance one of those mods you'll grab. So you'll most likely need both tweaks and config. Short answer, yes just get them, incase I confused ya lol.

@@primesgaming369 Everything is going great so far. Thanks again for the great video. I installed the tweaks manually but I ended up installing the configuration manager thru the mod manager cuz it was giving me a notice that the config manager did not have a file structure but after installing it thru the mod manager, it works great. I only have about 5-8 more mods to install and then I should be good to go. Compared to Skyrim SE and Fallout 4, modding subnautica is not such a time consuming process.

Your the 2nd person to say this. So I had to look this up. On the mod page, if you click on the description tab, and read what it says next to Vortex... Use this if you want to install with Vortex. Translation, they added support for vortex users. If your not using it, than you can ignore it. So yea, just ignore it :)

Very good guide, but what do I do if I have "missing dependencies"? I was able to get the cyclops docking mod installed just fine. 2 mods that are showing that are a decoration mod and the de extinction mod

The first thing that comes to mind with missing dependencies, is the core mods. Are you clicking the requirements tab, and making sure you have what's needed?

Your testing in creation mode correct? How many mods in total do you have installed? Sometimes lots of mods don't work with other mods.

Don’t worry about it I found out what was wrong with it. It’s not the site. It’s because I put my game in a different folder and not the main one so I had to go back to the main one and put it all in there and then it worked perfectly fine so for other people you might wanna check that

Mod Manager is optional and you don't need it. Most Mods require extra mods just to use, so allways check the requirements tab, if it's in requirements, than Yes you need them.

Sounds like your PC froze for a sec. You may not be able to do a lot of mods. But half guessing. Just take it 1 mod at a time, if your getting lag or freezing more often, well than that will tell ya you reached your limit. Or who knows, maybe this was a random 1 time thing

Go to your coord tab, where you can highlight your vehicles, life pod, new signals ect. And there should be a button on that screen to show the map. It shares the same tab. If this makes sence lol.

Sorry dude, You Tube never gave me your message. Maybe it's possible the mod never downloaded. Your anti virus protection does flag a few mods. But that's a common thing for Nexus. You just have to click allow download. I'll need more details if it's something else.

If the mods are allready installed. You can make a New folder on your desktop, call it subnautica mods or w/e. Than simply cut and paste the entire mod folder, from the game to the new folder. Boom vanilla play. Just don't play vanilla on a modded save.

First things first. There is a chance you missed a step. So rewatch the beginning of this guide. And make sure you are 100% accurate. If you have to, delete all mods and start over. You loading 1 mod at a time with all required "core mods" ? If this still doesn't work, than your PC probly can't handle Mods, and your just out of luck. I'm not a tech guy, but that be my guess for worse case.

Mod Manager Tab? You talking about the in game main menu part? or the folder itself? How many mods in total you got installed? You sure you have the core mods? I have heard from some people, that Mod Manager simply doesn't work for them. I hope that is not the case for you. Well it is an optional mod, so if you can't get it to work, than you'll have to download mods the long way. Can get time consuming, but sometimes you got to do, what you got to do.

The next 3 min after that time stamp explains what to do. That Menu aka Mod Manager, makes downloading new mods faster. And is Optional. You do not need to use Mod Manager.

Need more info. You sure you followed step by step instruction? Did you install Bepinex First, start the game, close the game. Than installed the next mod? Do you have all the "core" mods required? Are you sure your using the "correct" mods? Older Mods will not work with Bepinex/Nautilis.

@@primesgaming369 Yes, I installed the mods in the order shown in the video: 1st Bepinex and start game. 2nd Nautilis and 3rd SubnauticaModManager. I removed the game from Steam, deleted the game folder, installed it again and the same thing happens.

@@xadoballa Ok sounds like the issue is with Mod Manager. I have heard of that not working for people, but never noticed iit myself. Try this, Starting from the beginning. Do everythhing in order, but do Not install Mod Manager, simply manually install a mod, which ever one you want, don't forget them core mods. And see if that works. Mod Manager is optional, I use it for the speed, but if it's not working for you. See if the long way works.

The info you are after is at 23:18 But I highly recommend starting at 22:00 Deleting mods is easy, but can destroy a playthrough. Hence why we test it all in creation, which I hope you did 😉

Beluga is a new mod. So it's possible it just doesn't want to work. I haven't tested that mod yet. For now, try another mod, just to make sure the mods are working correctly, and you installed them correctly. Do something simple, like cyclops docking mod, or something. Moving forward. Keep in mind not all off the vehicles in vehicle framework mod, work well together
