At 5:48 you were wondering why some mods have multiple sub folders, When you drop a mod with a subfolder into the root directory, the mod is automatically placed in the "mods" folder because the subfolder is recognized as part of the mod package. and will automatically place any new mod packages it finds in that location. This allows for easy organization and management of the various mods that a player may have installed

I wouldn't worry about it as long as the mods work. But you can try downloading bepinex from a different source if it isn't working there's submodica.xyz or nexus mods

Where would I put the Bepin Ex file on Mac? I installed it, but you only showed where it belonged on Windows.

Sadly I can't help you there. Never have owned a mac :(

The reason they include the folder is because when two folders in windows have the same name, they merge their files. All you have to do is drop the BepInEx folder of the mod into Subnautica's folder, and the mod will be put in the correct folder instantly. (Which also helps with telling people what folders files go in). I believe that's also why Vortex support works, because all it has to do is locate the subnautica directory, put the files in, and they're already in the right folder without any additional struggles.

I just got a PC and I'm so confused. I did everything you said in the video but when I opened the game, it didn't show the modding window. What's "Doorstop"? All of these things that i dont understand. Im new and have never modded before. Please help. If you could make a video showing EVERYTHING that you use, it would really be appreciated.

i think doorstop is a config file. Make sure that your subnautica is the latest 2.0 version. All downloads must be 2.0 version as well. Most mods will not work without sml helper. Mods go into the bepinex/plugins folder not the other plugins folder

I'm not sure if it's an issue with an updated BepInEx Pack or what, but when I throw in the pack files into my Subnautica folder and go into BepInEx, there's the plugins folder as expected but there's already a file in it called "Tobey" and that has a bunch of stuff inside it. So it's not empty like yours and when I throw all the other plugins in there... nothing happens. I see the terminal window open up generating all the programs I've thrown in there like in your video at 5:26 but F5 doesn't work and I don't have an option for mods in the options. But like I said, my BepInEx Pack plugins folder isn't empty like yours was when starting out.

@@leviathankraken I did Nexus Mods. It seemed like the right one, but yeah, the folder structure was just a bit different than your video and I'm not having any luck getting mods to actually pull in.

@@scoobydew2232 try the submodica.xyz version. Make sure it's for 2.0 and not legacy version and let me know. Also open up subnautica from the steam app. If it still doesn't work delete subnautica and reinstall.

@@leviathankraken Hey thanks for all your help even with reaching out on an individual basis. You don't have to recommend anything else, but I just wanted to close the loop on what else I tried. I followed your advice and tried doing the submodica version. It definitely had different files in it and made me hopeful. I was able to get the plugin file to appear after starting subnautica and then added the other plugin files. The console had an error in it regarding nautilus so I ended up downloading that and throwing it in as well. It got rid of the error but it still didn't show any mods or any F5 configuration. I tried a bunch of iterations with various files and without various files and no luck. Thanks, though!

If it generated the plugins folder it should work. Did you put sml helper in there too? Most mods won't work without it. If deleting and reinstalling subnautica didn't work make sure that no external mod managers such as vortex are interfering. I would just take a deep breath and start from scratch with a fresh install of everything. I've seen poor internet connections leave fragmented files, and even strict antivirus programs can confuse mod loaders for viruses. Hope you get it working!

If this is your first time modding I'd just start over. Delete everything uncluding subnautica, reinstall and download the latest bepinex from submodica.xyz and make sure your subnautica version is set to 2.0.

The console appearing means bepinex is installing. I usually click out of that to open subnautica. Have you tried resetting subnautica?

Are you using vortex or still have qmod files in there? Did BepInEx generate the plugins folder first time you updated subnautica? Make sure your downloading the latest configuration manager and that it goes directly into the BepInEx/plugins folder

Make sure you unzipped it and that your version is 2.0. It should start generating the files the first time you open the game

Don't get the plugins folders confused put all mods into the BepInEx/plugins folder. Try resetting steam, and remove subnautica from vortex it you use it

F5 is what I pressed. You should see mods in the tab so check to make sure your game is updated to 2.0 and that you downloaded the correct 2.0 mods

if you see the configuration manager then overall it is working. But if none of the mods are showing up then yes it is possible the mods are legacy mods and not 2.0. Make sure that you have SML helper installed as most mods will not work without it and all mods in the proper plugin folder

You mean when you click F5 (I believe it is?) Well! I don't see them there too but just check in the setting if you have there a slot named "mods" if you instaled something and still don't see it there check if it works. I installed the "True base" something (idk) and I didn't see it in either but it was working. so even if you don't see it with the F5 It doesn't mean it isn't working! Hope it helped!

Make sure that your subnautica is 2.0 version and that you're downloading the correct BepInEx version www.nexusmods.com/subnautica/mods/1108. Mod managers such as vortex can interfere. If all else fails delete and reinstall subnautica
