How to Model and Verify a Benchmark Test Feeder Systems with DER in ETAP

etap.com - The Washington State University is working in collaboration with IIT and ETAP to development of benchmark test feeder systems under DOE UI-ASSSIT project. Two test feeder systems are designed and modeled in both MATLAB/SIMULINK and ETAP. The test systems designed in ETAP include IIT Rural Benchmark test feeder system and modified IEEE 123-node system. The two different software are used for the validation of the results. Rural feeder was developed by IIT-R in Simulink; however, the same system is implemented and verified using ETAP software. The rural microgrid is a grid-connected system. The distributed energy resources (DERs) are added to study their impact on the performance of the microgrid. Modified IEEE 123-node test feeder has a nominal voltage of 4.16kV and consisting of around 123 nodes and DERs, with both single phase and three-phase distribution lines and loads. It is modified for multiple distribution studies. In this presentation, load flow, volt-var optimization, etc. will be shown in ETAP.
