Thank you! My wash day routine hasn’t really changed, but I’ll try and get round to doing another one soon. As for co-washing, it’s not a must that you DC. Great video. I'm 8 months natural. When I got it shaved to a bald fade months ago I was excited for the head full of 4c hair that i just knew I'd be getting. As it started growing back I continued to claim 4c. Now that I have a twa and can clearly tell that I'm 4b/4c with a little more 4b going on. Hair typing is very important in my opinion. What works on 4c....4a....3b...etc... doesn't work on 4b/4c hair. Hair typing helps in figuring out hair care. Question: my hair grows super fast when I braid with weave and keep moisturized. I usually braid my own every 6 weeks. But I decided to go to 1 if our local African shops....let them put box braids in. My scalp is now super itchy and so dry. Do you let them braid your hair? If so, are you finding that your scalp gets dryer? I literally have to grease my edges and scalp twice a day and spray oil sheen. When I braid my own I moisturize every other day and don't have an itchy scalp. Your hair is beautiful! New subscriber. Can't pass up an opportunity to plug while on here so go to barnes&noble.com and check out my work under tonya young #readabook
@HealthyAfroHair6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! No, I rarely go to the salon and prefer to do my hair myself. Did they braid your hair tight? I’m thinking that might be why it’s dry and itchy. Definitely increase your moisturising routine to ensure you scalp is kept hydrated. But if it’s really uncomfortable and your scalp is sore, then you should consider taking it out.

After locking in the moisture with oil during the day...will the products you apply at night penetrate into your strands?
@HealthyAfroHair4 жыл бұрын
Yes, because with normal & high porosity hair, the cuticle layers are always open, allowing moisture to go in and out. Also, I moisturise morning & night, so there’s a good amount of time in between to re-moisturise.
@shop.ebla.4 жыл бұрын
Healthy Afro Hair oh okay...because after I deal with oil...everything else I put just sits on my hair strands and before I know it my hair is extremely dry🥺

Hi, just found your channel, GREAT VIDEOS. My hair problem is high porosity hair with no elasticity. Do you know much about this issue? I have tried many products over the years including protein and hot oil treatments but nothing seems to work. Products literally just sit on top of my hair with really penetrating in the hair shaft. The results are either greasy or just dry hair…. Any suggestions would be helpful for my 4C very dry and brittle hair. 🙁
@patrick63823 жыл бұрын
If products sit on your hair I think it’s because you have low porosity hair and the products are too heavy to penetrate into the hair strand
@ambria44042 жыл бұрын
@@patrick6382 If it only sits on your hair then it is high porosity. If she had low porosity it would’ve quickly absorb through her hair follicles.
@candaceelenalifestyle48872 жыл бұрын
@@ambria4404 you have it backwards. Patrick is correct...low porosity hair takes longer to fully wet or dry and hair care products tend to stay on the surface of your hair rather then be absorbed. Light oils will be easier absorbed for low porosity hair.

Could you add all the products you used (water, the cream + the coconut oil) into a spray bottle and use it all in one go or is it important to do it one step at a time?
@Lee-wb8mt5 жыл бұрын
KZbin Addict you want to do it in layers so that you lock in and seal moisture. Just like makeup, in steps so that u have a flawless finish. Clean, moisturize, prime, concealer etc. It works the same way with your hair. Mixing liquid, cream and oil won’t be as effective because all ingredients have different densities.
@youtubeaddict56635 жыл бұрын
@@Lee-wb8mt Thanks for the reply. Ive seen quite a few natural mix essential oils, butter or some other type of oil into their spray bottles so Im still confused LOL
@Lee-wb8mt5 жыл бұрын
KZbin Addict ahhh that makes sense. Sometimes they do that as a daily moisturizer, since water is the best moisturizer for hair. Sometimes they add oils, essential oils, some even add leave in conditioners to to help de- tangle, moisturize or use as a growth aid. I have a water bottle with some essential peppermint oil, lavender and grape seed oil for growth which I warm up and spray on my scalp for my head massages, it promotes growth. Depending on the porosity of one’s hair one can add different oils or additives. I’m low porosity so I make sure not to use heavy oils or sealants in my water spray bottle if directly applying it to my hair, and I use the sealant (grape-seed, almond or avocado, sometimes jojoba) as my last step in my LCO regiment.
@youtubeaddict56635 жыл бұрын
@@Lee-wb8mt but you said earlier that "it's best to do it in layers to lock and seal in the moisture" - and now you're saying the complete opposite? Now can you see any I'm confused haha
@Lee-wb8mt5 жыл бұрын
KZbin Addict lol, I’m not saying the opposite. I only add essential oils, like peppermint oil, rosemary and lavender oil to warm water and apply it to MY SCALP, not my hair strands. You use a few drops of essential oils and they aren’t heavy like sealing oils, and I’m only using it on my scalp to encourage hair growth when I stimulate my scalp with my massage. BUT on my actual hair I use plain water followed by the LCO method using a sealing oil LAST, after my leave in conditioner and cream moisturizer. I know it is confusing ‘cause there is so much info out there, but like anything it’s trial and error and you’ll figure out what works for you. 5 years ago I needed to lose 50 lbs, I was so confused ‘cause of all the information out there. I did my research and with trial and error I found out what works for me. I changed my body completely and I’ve kept the weight off for the past 5 years. You just have to do what works best for you. Don’t get overwhelmed with all the info out there beautiful.

I notice you didn't braid or twist your hair. Did it not shrink as the day went on seeing as you put water (and I'm guessing a water-based cream) in it? I'm wondering if, as my hair gets longer (and heavier) like yours, it will shrink less maybe...?
@HealthyAfroHair6 жыл бұрын
I did it late evening, so just added large stretchy bands to keep it stretched ready for the next day. But when I do style it, I’ll more rock a high puff, but overall, it does shrink a bit. But definitely, the longer it gets, the less shrinkage.
