This is how I move heavy appliances without scratching my floor. I needed to move my stove out to fix my counter. I use the same process when Spring cleaning behind my stove, fridge, washer, dryer, and freezer.

Huge help for when doing jobs as a appliance tech. Some floors are hardwood in a kitchen (whhyyyyyy!) And it can take so much time moving appliances rather than the reason your there... to fix them. Especially when the floors been built around the appliance and not under it. So much pain and time spent on just moving the thing. Thanks for the video!

@@Woodified Once took me a hour on a Dishwasher at a customers house. Same thing. Floor was put down after the Dishwasher was installed. Had barely a 1/8th of a inch at the top where the counter was. Fasten the legs back up, which just allowed me to slide similar plastic rails underneath. Had to pull it up on a angle since this DW had legs in the middle as well (just to make it fun... lol) Repeated the same step then was able to get it out. Fun times

I use an old bath towel, or some thick cloth to place under the front 'feet' to prevent scratching, and to provide a slick surface.

That sounds like a good idea. Some old carpet turned upside down and cut into small pieces works too. Just be careful the back feet don't dig into the cushion floor.

Thx for the tip. I actually put furniture sliders under my refrigerator when i had help to move. I finished the project, But now i don't have help. I have the frig in place and now i need to get the sliders out. Again I don't have any help, i can only get to frig from the front. Its a brand new french door stainless ( handles in center) ... I thought I would use a dolly, wrapped so not to scratch anything, but don't know if that will damage the under carriage. I don't want to unscrew the levelers to use the wheels, thoughts?
@Woodified
@Woodified 6 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you should raise the levelers and use the front wheels or get some help. If one person can tilt the frig just enough you might be able to use a yard stick to get the back sliders out.) Take your time -it would suck to damage your new frig.
@jeniferjordan2576

thanks for reply..I did not have the special socket tool to raise the levelers and any help in this town would have cost me too much $ for one minute of work...so i ended up wrapping the dolly and just got as close as i could to the wheels and lifted. with one big toe, I slide out sliders. hopefully i didn't hurt anything under the frig carriage..

There must be some kind of trade embargo on these glides as all US suppliers wont post them to Oz and there is no local supplier. I might have to wax up a couple of pieces of MDF to move my 90cm oven.

The sliders are useful for protecting the floor, but I found they were not nearly as easy to use as shown in this video. One slider behaved as shown in the video, but it was difficult to raise the back of the stove to slide the slider under the back contact point since we have an upper oven. The other side was easier to slip under the back contact point, but the slider just slid along the wood floor instead of the stove sliding on the slider (that did the job, but that's not the way it's supposed to work).
@Woodified
@Woodified 6 жыл бұрын
I wonder if adding something like a strip of hockey tape to the bottom of your slides would be enough to keep the guides from sliding?

I'm not sure about your stove but mine is really heavy and has a wide base. There is no need for an anti tip bracket on the stove. If your stove can tip over absolutely install a bracket. That would suck to pull out the rack to get your turkey out of the oven and a hot stove tip over on you.
