i’ve participated in the tmea all state process. my prep is good, i was 6th chair all district this year, but the nerves KILLED me this year for region, and the cut for the SSA song did not help in the slightest. hopefully next year i can advance farther w these tips.

Hey! I am a freshman who has made 2nd chair for All-region and 2nd chair for Pre-Area!! Next is the Area audition which determines if i make it or not!! its on like January 8th, so imma come back and tell yall if I made it! If i make it it would look so sooo good on my college resume

So I would say you need to be consistent with your practicing; I know it will be become a pain, but it is so so important. Second, don’t over practice because then you will lose interest in the pieces, which kills your audition. Third, practice your sightreading if you have any. Fourth, you need to just sit silently for 10 min before your audition, or like 5 it doesn’t matter, just cool down and push the adrenaline down your throat. Are you texas?

Genre is decided by the musician not the instrument. That’s like saying what type of genre a piano or a guitar play. It depends on the person who is playing it.
