How to Naturally Dye Sneakers | Hands On (S1E2) | Nike

Nike footwear designers Aja and Indah show you how to create natural food coloring to give new life to old shoes. Instead of trashing dingy sneakers, grab some ingredients from around your house and follow along with this natural dyeing tutorial. Have you tried sneaker customization? What You’ll Need:
A pair of shoes with natural materials like cotton
A large pot - it’ll need to hold your shoes and enough liquid to cover them
Water
Natural ingredients, like food scraps or plants. Not sure which to use? Watch the video for inspiration!
2-3 tbsp Alum - this dye fixative can be found in the spice or canning aisle of your grocery store
2-3 tbsp Iron Mordant - this color enricher can be found online
Note: You’ll be working with hot liquid for this one, so adult supervision is required, as well as the use of safety goggles and gloves.
