How can you tell if the plates need cleaning or are worn out if you can not remove the green cover?

@stevelexus Hi Steve, Thanks for your question. No, but remove probes (carefully) if it has those and keep the 1:10 diluted acid below the top section. Otherwise you risk destroying the oring, wiring, etc.

Thank you. So you need to rely on the acid to dissolve the calcium build up and not gently scrub it away?

If you are going to help the acid with the large chunks, only use soft things and be super careful not to scratch the plates. The more damage the plates receive the shorter their life.
