My tip. Inspect your wheel rims before you set off!!! It’s hard to avoid a punctures on UK roads what with all the pot holes and broken glass. My advice always have a puncture repair kit in your bag.

@@RidePureElectric way back in 2004 we purchased our first Tandem from Thorn Cycles of Bridgewater that tandem originally had Panarcer Pasela tyres fitted to honest there rubbish, then tried the Schwalbe super marathon what a difference. In 2016 our second tandem from Thorns came with Schwalbe tyre .so from 2004 to 2020 probably had 2 to 3 punctures, now riding a Moustache Samedi ebike Tandem there fitted with Schwalbe super moto 2.4” tyres up to now no punctures good mix of comfort and rolling characteristics .

Michelle, please do a video on the proper sealant to use with the Brompton electric. In the past I've cycled hundreds of miles without a single puncture in New York State and Cape Cod. So my tip would be to cycle in the USA!

I keep getting pinholes on the inside of my tube against the rim (where the spokes connect) But there's nothing rough at that point. I cant work out what's causing it. Its not an intrusion thru the tire. Its on an electric wheel I installed on a Schwinn Twin. .. baffling me. Thnx for the vid - love your style!

There's also the completely puncture proof option of airless tyres, however they're probably not as comfortable to ride, and expensive because you don't just pay for the tyres and their inserts but a specialist to install them with equipment. Schwalbe's Marathon E-Plus and Continental's Contact Plus seem to be the toughest conventional tyres from the research I did.

I firmly believe in running the best handling tires with the lowest rolling resistance. Anyone with the least measure of mechanical ability can learn to repair an occasional flat, so why not run tires that make the bike the most pleasurable to ride. I’ve known riders who are so afraid of getting a puncture that they will run the most armored tires with heavy duty tubes, sealant and tire liners. Sure, they may never get flats, but their bikes ride like boat anchors.

I have Tannus Armour foam inserts inbetween the inner tube and tyre on my Electra Townie Go eBike, no punctures in over 6 months now & gives a little bit of shock absorption, plus it's claimed they can be run flat of air in emergencies.
