Same. Currently I'm pleased with my skills and drawing my older ocs with my new skills and art style feels great though.

Yeah a lot of artist's usually look at other people work especially if its a younger artist and feel like they not getting their goal quick enough but everyone learns at their own speed, if your accept your art for what it is in the moment, you can also identify what you need to improve on, keep up the amazing work everyone and keep it pushing, as they say Rome wasn't built in a day

If you want to improve your art a lot I advise you to study anatomy, perspective and proportions. Even if you draw in a stylised and cartoony way it helps you a lot in stylising your characters better and more efficiently since you have a general idea on where the bones and muscles are which will help stylising your character better and more consistently.
@phiweelamampembe89462 жыл бұрын
@@sonicmaiden2871 no it's not that, I have tons of pdfs about detailed anatomy, muscles, body movement, motion etc it's just that my mind that's the problem. One moment I can draw the next I suck and for some reason I just keep struggling with drawing the chest and pelvis which is frustrating not to mention I have next to no art supplies just a crappy pencil and paper ( the lines are too thick and messy)
@sonicmaiden28712 жыл бұрын
@@phiweelamampembe8946 having reference pdfs is a good thing. Try to use the references in each art piece until you memorize how to draw the proportions properly. My proportions used to be bad as well but after drawing a lot and using the references often for about 3 years I can nail the proportions well without them. As for the art supplies, paper and pencils are enough. You can draw good lineart even with crappy pencils and simple paper, what it matters the most the way you draw. Also the sharper your pencil tip is the thinner will be the line. If it's a regular wooden pencil you can sharpen it yourself with a knife (be careful though).

I don't think I hate my art. I mean, my older pieces are kinda gross because that's when I was just starting out as a digital artist, following drawing tutorials and the like. Hate is a very strong word. I might dislike some of my older pieces, but I don't outright hate them. If anything, it just shows at that time, I didn't know what the fuck I was doing. But after having my drawing tablet for 7 months, I feel like I've gotten better. (I used to do my artwork on my really small phone screen and a crappy stylus, lol.) Earlier today, I couldn't get a bust pose for my OC right (where her head was tilted, but her body was front-facing). It was almost demotivating, as I'm working on digital Inktober this year and it's my first one. So I scrapped that artwork to try something new, and I never realized until today that I really like semi-realism (with big eyes amd small noses). So that will be my artwork for Inktober day 4. 😊

I've definitely found myself hating my art. I did everything you said, damn near. I had unrealistic expectations of my skills, which fed into my pessimistic mindset making me subconsciously believe I was a failure. Now, I'm focusing my attention on completing Inktober and taking time to study my craft while doing it. I'm noticing a change in my mood and some sparks of improvement. I can't be satisfied with this though, I must keep going. Watching this video is confirmation from God that I'm on the right track. Thanks for putting this video together. I'm definitely going to check out more videos!

I wish you luck with improving your art! My art improved a lot since I went to the art university but you can improve your art by yourself as well. I advise studying anatomy, perspective and proportions (there are plenty of good books, videos and references out there online about that). It did help me a lot improving my art and stylising my characters better and more consistently. I also advice practicing as well, especially by drawing things from real life. At my art university we did a lot of fast and artistic sketches which helped me stylising better and finding my own art style as well.

I've been drawing for 4 years now. And I started digital Art 1 and a half years ago. But I am still not happy with my own work, I feel like its not good enough. I want to be able to draw anything I want successfully with an art style that I've created. And I am disappointed in my self for not being able to do that after 4 years. I have an art style but yet again, I don't think its good enough and I cant successfully draw something that I want to draw. Most of my work isn't appealing as I draw mostly with black ink and no colour like mangaka's do. Not saying there aren't any appealing manga art out there btw, its just the Comic black and white type of style I have isn't as appealing as other manga art that is out there, And I think that might be because I focus way too much onto the details rather than the composition and linework. I always get lost in drawing detailed stuff. Like I drew a Berserk Fanart a week or 2 ago and I mostly focussed on the characters Armor rather than his face or the background, which made the final image look strange.

Tbh: I don't really like a lot of these vids for the exact reason I'm seeing here; you still don't actually explain how we're meant to fix it. You just say what we need to do for it to be fixed. Like: point number 2 is probably my personal biggest issue, so I was interested in how I was supposed to fix it. But all you did was state that "It's fine that some people get the hang of concepts quicker then others." And yet my first response was "No it's not. It's not okay at all that I or anyone is slower then other people. Why would that possibly be okay?" I was waiting for you to explain how I'm supposed to get the mindest you want me to have; but then you just moved on, meaning there was nothing I could take away from this vid. It's all well and good to say "start thinking like this" but you never actually got around to explaining *how* I'm supposed to be thinking like this, so what exactly am I supposed to have learned here?
