I don't know what state you live in but the New York City every Barbershop stays pack with people.. it's also where you make a lot of money any simple haircut from 25 to $40.. any barber in New York City makes a lot of money I know because I'm also a barber... New York it's one of the best jobs you can do. Being a barber it's a form of Art.. the first Barbers go back to ancient Egypt.. and they were highly respected and honored they will also the doctors of medicine and the witch doctors.. opening up your own barber shop in New York is I'll gold mine most open up more than one.

Hey Sean, I was hoping that you would pull some numbers together even if they are fabricated ones to give a little more detailed information. I've been kicking that idea around of opening my own shop one day. Booth rent versus shop rent and how you pull all of that together would be awesome.

I'm sure I'm too late with this answer. But I'll give you an idea. Add up all your expenses. Get some ideas what utilities will be. For example, I have apx 1200 Sq ft. I run a 25k BTU a/c, and my shop is well lit. My light bill comes to $800 bimonthly during the winter, and $1,500 during the summer. Add up all your expenses. Let's say that comes to $4,000 per month and you have 8 chairs, and 8 barbers....$4,000÷7= $571 (Per month per chair), not counting YOUR CHAIR. That breaks down to $142 per week. Per chair. Bit ideally, the odds of you having all 8 chairs full out the gate is slim. Also....you would need to find out what business model is the shops I'm your area using? Booth rent or percentage. As an owner you make WAY more money! But. That means you would HAVE to BE there to watch over your money! Feel free to message me for more tips, or if you need a mentor. My name is "Tiz The Locsmith". Master Barber/Master Stylist/Master Loctician/Ceo- International Cutmasterz Barbershop Inc., located in Selden, NY. Follow me on Google, Facebook, and Instagram (to name a few). I'm always open and available to share information or mentorship! Be well!

Do you do booth rent by month? Or weekly? Also, in your example the booth rent you made was enough to cover the shops rent/mortgage and expenses. Should that be how every shop owner figures out how much to ask for booth rent? And are there any other factors to decide that amount?
@Seancutshair
@Seancutshair Жыл бұрын
Booth rent is weekly. At the time I just made sure I could cover expenses. Now I wish it was enough to be more profitable. Just have to find the right number for you.

Thanks for the video brother! How much is booth rent per week? And do your barbers have a key to come in and cut when shop is closed/After hours cuts?
@Seancutshair

Booth rent was $150 but is now $200 since we’re headed to a brand new location. And yes they all have keys and are welcome to come and go as long as they let me know.

We've opened up a barbershop but wondering what tools or purchases are needed to take cash payments and card payments for clients. Do we need a cash drawer. Point of Sale?
@Seancutshair
@Seancutshair 3 жыл бұрын
My barbers do their own point of sale. They take their own cash, Venmo or cashapp, and can use a square card reader if they want. If you wanted to run a system for everybody you could, but I don’t know much about that.

Hey Sean I like the way you think and love your content. How do you feel about mobile barbers? Currently live in Arizona and as you might know we had the highest spikes in the world. I do eventually want to own a shop but for now want to get a cargo trailer and operate one client at a time. What's your advice??

Cool… I’m in Ohio.. I m a Barber but 4 yrs back my son used to go UK and every Barber around the school was messing his head up.. Wish I knew about your then lol.. I ll have to check you out next time I’m in Kentucky man.. As to walk ins can t do it anymore lol I notice clients respect you more when you re appt. only vs taking walk ins plus easier to raise prices so business wise it was smart… You re right.. That old way of thinking is dead Bruh..
