I had a champagne opening phobia since the childhood, so I was a complete virgin in it. And I’m almost 30yo! Thanks to this video I just opened my first ever champagne bottle and it all went so smoothly and I was in full control!! Eventually it did the “pop” but the cork didn’t fly away and stayed in my hand. Thank you so much!! 😊😊

I've always had to have my husband open the bottles because 1) I was afraid of the cork flying off and doing damage and 2) I have arthritis and have never had the strength to do it. But since my husband is away this time (New Years Eve) I had to find a way to open the bottle myself. This was the first video I came to and I followed your instructions and 'ta da' I was able to it with no trouble at all my very first time. Now I can have that occasional glass of wine or champagne whenever I feel the need. Thank you very much!

Wow, that’s amazing. And surprisingly not scary. I have held onto a couple bottles of champagne for xxx years - knowing I needed to open open them before discarding. Thank you for a video and directions so easy, even people who rarely drink (and English majors) can do it safely. Cheers!

Have always done the 45 degree angle but never left the cage on. Is there a science based reason for leaving it on when removing the cork? Or is it more etiquette. Love your content and thank you for what you do.
@bennygeypens3 жыл бұрын
The 45 degree is only to limit the damage if the cork would shoot out. The pressure hitting the glass argument makes no sense. Why leaving the cage on? SImply because something needs to hold down the cork at all times. If one removes the cage there will be a moment when this is not the case. Etiquette has nothing to do with it.

I turned the bottle a thousand times with my thumb pressed against the cork and it would not pop out, maybe my finger was too hard fearing that the cork will shoot out. I ended up drinking a bottle of water instead. Isn’t that nice esp when I was dying for a bottle of bubbles. LOL

Why is there two different ways of pouring it out. From what I read the correct way is to fill just enough to put the tip of your finger under the liquid. Let it sit for a second. Then quickly pour the rest.

Hold the bottle at 45°, because the pressure only goes up, in to the side of the bottle not out the hole. Where the pressure differential occurs..... 🤦🏻♂
