@@curbyweaver4606The sap seems to be worse if you cut the core in half. If you cut around it (imagine slicing an apple so you don't cut through the core) then it seems like there will be less sap.

I believe its one of the 'trade winds fruit'...there is one much rare, we call it locally as 'marang' and designated as the 'trade winds fruit' only comes out in season like the durian...early September till December...whereas the Jackfuit bears fruit pretty much in year round...we just create smoke from fallen leaves around the base of its trunk...helps inducing the tree to flower and bear fruits more often...same thing we do with our mamgoes... Hello there Wendi Phan...love this fruit too...we love to eat them out from the freezer...mmm...tastes like natural candy...;-)

@damien geoghegan Dried jackfruit smells very similar to the fresh, but not as strong. You loose the texture (chewiness) and juice of a fresh one. It's really not comparable to a fresh in my opinion, but it wouldn't hurt to try it if that's the closest thing you can get to. Let me know how you like it!

The proper way is to pick the cells from top to bottom without cutting the middle portion. Just cut a little bit of skin from the upper side and drag the skin to the bottom while you are picking up the cells. Yes it is essential to use oil to get rid of the sap. If you don't cut the middle portion the amount of sap will be very little. Thanks from Bangladesh

@@ms16648 well, I tried it because there were multiple videos that used this method. It’s not necessary. No greasing hand and knife handle needed. Sketch

Very informative and interesting! Thank you.How does jack fruit taste and can it be cooked?

Yes! You can do a light stir fry dish with the ripe ones. The really young fruitback (not ready to eat raw) is marinaded and cooked. Texture really mimics pork.
