Thank you for showing the detail of the latch after opening the hood. I saw another video that shows how to stick you hand under the hood and release the safety but all you see is the fingers and the hood going open. I wanted to fill the windshield dispenser and I couldn't really locate that latch just by feel. Now with your visual of the latch I know what I need to be feeling for with my hand ... thanks!

The first latch is released when you pull the tab inside, the second one is when you slide your hand in there. If you peak in you should be able to see it. Also just ask someone around and they'll show you and then you'll open it once and then you can open the hood of nearly every vehicle without issue

My girlfriend just bought a 2020 wrx. When I put my hand under the hood I'm hitting a plastic box about 2 or3 inches long and I can't find that lever. I don't want to brake anything. Have an answer? Also how can you list 21 and 22 when they haven't come out yet?

Well I would check to see if it was removed and if it can be put back in. Maybe the car was in an accident or something else happened and it wasn't replaced or can't be. It is a safety feature and if you don't accidentally pop it while your driving do biggy, but if you do or the latch doesn't secure correctly it could fling open while your driving and snap back across the top of the car and do quite a bit of damage. I had an old car 30 years ago and the secondary latch didn't work and I forgot to check to make sure it was closed all the way when I dropped the hood. I was driving and on the highway and the hood swung open while I was driving across a bridge. Talk about scary. Driving blind and having to slow down and then look under a inch gap under the hood and the line out the window until I could get off the bridge and pull over. Then I had to tie the hood down until I got home. I was lucky I didn't get into a crash or sail off the bridge in panic. I was also lucky it was an old vehicle and made out of metal. The hood was bent and I took it off and pounded it kinda back to normal. The hinge on one side I pounded back to almost normal and the other hinge I banged away on but was still not great. My hood on the drivers side closest to the window was up about 5 inches. I had a crease on the top of my car where it hit and a cracked windshield. I did get it to close and the car already looked pretty bad before that, so not sure if it looked that much worse after. Now though I highly doubt you'd be so lucky to get anything to kind of get back together like I did. Best of luck and hope you find it or get it oput back in.

@@youcanfixit3721 found out where it was, turned out the latch to open the hood was on the lower side of the inner rim, me and my family where all feeling upwards under the hood so we didn't find it. I felt down on a whim and instantly opened the hood

You'd be amazed at how many people have npo idea how to open a hood. You need to look one up that say broken hood release or hood stuck. Best of Luck!
