Nice Tractor, like the digital console, and the modern options. Thanks for the instrument brief, and keep those drinks cold. By the way I am jealous because I always wanted a John Deer.

I've driven 3 different tractors, late 60s Ford 4000-series, 95 Ford 8240, and a new Fendt 824 Vario. The Fendt was smooth as butter to drive, but the vintage Ford was so much more fun. No fear for breaking anything and wind in my air, bouncing around through the forrest with a big smile on my face. 4L+4H if I remember it right. Anyways, this JD didn't look any easier to operate than the Fendt, nor more difficult?

I have driven, massey ferguson 135, 35, 5610, john deere 6125r, 5100r, 5125r, 6155r, 6215r, 540 and 3130 6110 mc 6420, 6620, 5820, new holland t6 040, valtra N 106 and a case 95. Even the older John Deere are far better and easier to drive than some of the newer tractors.

Interesting video and thanks for the tutorial. These new tractors absolutely fascinate me. I grew up on the 3010, 3020 and 4020 and the newer tractors look confusing compared to the older models. Miss the work. I suppose one might say I'm living vicariously through you. :) Be safe and best wishes.
@lukestrawwalker7 жыл бұрын
they're more like a video game than driving the old tractors where the gear lever actually moves linkages and shifts gears! Like he said, basically you move the little stick up to "forward" and then bump it forward to upshift to a faster gear, or bump it back to downshift to a lower gear... that's it. For reverse you move it sideways and down then left again into the reverse section, bump it back to upshift in reverse and forward to downshift in reverse... the bottom section is neutral, or over to the left is locked in park. Took me a little while to get used to the BIL's old Cases with the three speed powershift over the 4 speed gearbox. Basically you can shift up or down through three powershift speeds in every gear. The newer Deeres like the 4230 are much nicer... the newer yet stuff (like this one) isn't THAT much nicer IMHO just different. Love running the 4230 of the nephews... I'm used to 8 speed manual boxes on my Ford 5000/6000 series tractors... all we ever needed. Later! OL J R :)

When changing from gear 1 to 2, you press the clutch all the way down then move it into 2? Doesn't pressing the clutch stop the tractor though or is it suppose to be like that? Thanks
@Scrobbles56838 жыл бұрын
No it still carries momentum pressing the brake would make it stop its just that he was going rather slow it stopped :)
@steveminecraft2197 жыл бұрын
No because it's a power shift. You don't even need to use the clutch according to John deere

Mate, no one is scrambling your gps signal. The difference is in the fact that what satelite service you pull, how many satelites you can get and what buad rate you can do. And on the RTK all they do is add another position witch is a static one to calculate your movement relative to the static point for a better calculculation of you position.

The thing I don't like is, some models have two handles (for 1,2,3,4 and A,B,C,D). It's ok until you don't have heavy load, after that you have to operate with both between gears.
@Kllrkrtt3099 жыл бұрын
You NEVER move the gear range lever while moving, EVER. Who ever taught you or told you that is a complete idiot. Quad range is meant to be shifted into range at a complete stop in neutral, then shifted into 1st, and then slapped over to second without the clutch, then clutched and shifted ahead to 3rd, and then repeat the same 1-2 process on 3-4.
@TracTech9 жыл бұрын
+BrettKuntz Thank you. Are we talking about the same/similar models? Here's the thing: example JD 5080M, gear D1 has about 10km/h. We tried to start in D gear and tractor (no attachments) was "jumping" to just move itself from start. We always need to start with at least C3, then C4, after that, change two shifts (while moving) to D and another to 1 (so now you are in D1) and move up (D2, D3, D4) to reach about 40km/h. Even more work is needed when you have a trailer (empty) and even more with full load. Road is asphalt, no slope. It's like you are in a truck, need to shift a lot.
@Kllrkrtt3099 жыл бұрын
+Trac Tech then you have transmission problems. Quad range is never shifted that way.

it uses multiple satellites to counter act the interference the atmosphere has on it. It will have a base state that is measuring how much delay is introduced by clouds and such, then that number will be used to to change the results from the GPS that's what makes it more accurate. I don't think the government scrambles up the signals. I mean I have heard of better algorithms that get it to be more accurate, but no malice

Scrambles the GPS signal ?????????????????????????? Errrrrrr nope. Not since 2000 when all 24 GPS satellites became available for commercial users. All GPS guidance systems (from your iPhone to your tractor guidance system) are just a means to receive and use the positioning data available from satellites. Depending on what sort of system you pay for depends on the accuracy all the way up to RTK correction to + or - 2cm.
