I am honest by saying I will not be able to drive that tractor, I am used to old iron like the Ford 3000 and 5000's, Deutz 6206's etc. I would like to test one where nobody is close, just to try sort it out and learn by mistakes without mess up. It is special to see a JD farmer test something else and I believe we will hear your very honest thoughts and experience.

@brammie2327 жыл бұрын
On the road i prefer using the footpedal, because when you release it, the blue bar directly drops to 0 instead of dropping slowly, so when you get to a traffic light and you brake, the tractor won't start to accelerate when you release the brake pedal and the blue bar hasn't dropped fully yet. On the field is the commandgrip handle (joystick) easier, because you can drive at a constant speed without having your foot on the pedal
@HowFarmsWork7 жыл бұрын
+Bram Jacobs Very good point! That wasn't something I had enough time to discover for myself but that would be a very good reason to use it!
@brammie2327 жыл бұрын
I'm mostly using the new holland tractors for transportation uses, so i'm a lot on the road with the tractors. On the commandgrip handle is also a button C (cruise control). If you use the footpedal and press that button, the tractor keeps driving at the same speed without having to hold down the pedal, and when you touch the pedal again, the tractor disables cruise control and drives again with the pedal.
@rc31407 жыл бұрын

I dont get it how you guys dont use the clutch or footpedal. When I am in our autopowr (Cvt) john deere I do sometimes use the clutch, and I use the foot pedal all the time... I think driving with the clutch from start up it goes smoother and faster. Further hand throttle on the road? Isnt that dangerous?
@HowFarmsWork6 жыл бұрын
Not really, we're used to driving one handed!

@thr80617 жыл бұрын
Fendt/Massey Ferguson/Challenger all use the Fendt designed clutchless full-CVT transmission. They are all very nice to drive. The Fendt seems a little more complex mostly because the Germans ALWAYS like making things more complicated than the need to be.

I'll bet the wiring diagram for that rig is 300 pages. Gives me shivers to think of an electrical breakdown. Even the dealers mechanics cannot possibly be fully trained. Bet they have to have an engineer on their headset full time from the head office when fault searching. "self diagnostics" - don't count on it! And what in hell do you do in 25 years when the connectors and wires start to fail? Pull it to the barn with that 90 year old McCormick.

what is the point of 2 brake pedals?
@jackrobinson41017 жыл бұрын
Sidebrakes, you can use them to slightly adjust direction when ploughing.
@lukestrawwalker6 жыл бұрын
Turning brakes for REALLY sharp turns (at least on 2 wheel drive tractors that aren't too heavy in the front). Turn to the right, want to turn tighter, mash the right brake-- the tractor will almost double back on itself. Same thing to the left. Going down the road you're SUPPOSED to lock them both together (pedal lock) but most guys just train themselves to hit both pedals at once (since they're side by side close together). Having separate rear brakes also has another benefit, especially on a 2 wheel drive tractor-- if you hit a wet spot and one wheel breaks loose and starts spinning, you can mash the brake on the spinning tire-- this transfers power through the differential to the tire that still has traction, which will then pull harder and usually keep you from getting stuck. If you KNOW you're going to be in some slimy muddy conditions, you can hit the differential lock BEFORE you start to spin one wheel (NEVER hit the diff lock once a wheel is spinning-- it can break the differential because of the sudden shock). Course with the diff lock on turning becomes difficult/impossible, so the "tap the brakes on the spinning wheel" trick is easier to use at times especially if you're maneuvering around a lot. Later! OL J R :)
