Best explanation I ever received about how to steer a zero turn was that it's like handle bars on a bike. When yo wanna go right,push forward with your left. When you wanna go left,push forward with your right.

One of the main problems new riders have is trying to ride to fast once they get the hang of it. They try and go so fast once they get comfortable that they leave Mohawks or just dont cut the grass, because going way to fast makes it so the grass doesn't even get the full cut

You dont really have to do 3 point turns unless the grass is moist like in the morning. Or wet at all. Otherwise its usually okay to do a small zero turn.

We mow cemeteries and other municipal properties. Toro is the brand of choice. 4000 & 5000 series z turn mowers. Can be a harsh environment, testing equipment and operators daily. FYI all two cycle equipment is ECHO

The biggest problem with the old style riding mowers is loss of traction in a slippery spot, where one wheel will spin, and the other doesn't move. So with two transmissions, one powering each wheel, that problem is gone now? Both wheels will turn, or spin?

Yes. Full throttle. That is the blade speed. It also cools the engine. Remember they are air cooled via the fan on top. That needs to run at full throttle. Running less may also put more stress on engine, causing it to run... hot.

Okay...I can't afford one types of mowers right NOW but I am looking into maybe buying one in the future and I have a VERY important question that will decide if I ever buy one or not. I live on a hill with a steepish incline and the ground can be rather soft and uneven...especially if moles and groundhogs have been digging around the property during spring and summer. How good are these types of mowers for such terrain? The top of the hill where my home and more of my yard is, is decently flat but the hill is the scariest part to mow, always has been even for my grandfather back when he was alive to do it since if you go sideways on the hill at certain points it could flip the mower. My grandpa had an old fashioned front heavy mower..like the classic John Deer you see with the seat in the back and deck sticking out from under it. If I'm gonna sink $1000+ on a mower I need it to be able to handle the terrain of my property.

Stick to a mow commercial grade machine with bigger tires. That should help!

If you get a large deck like 60"+ you should be fine. You would be amazed what them commercial mowers can do

Think of it like handle bars on a bike. I'm an older gal who just bought and mowed her 2 acres with a zero turn. If I can figure it out, you can too. It's really not that hard, go slow at first.

Use a weed eater for the ditch.

​​ @BudMan420 Don't mow a slope greater than 15° either vertically or horizontally. You can slide and lose control, especially if you're inexperienced. Weed eaters are best for ditches.

Its super bad for the engine to be turned off and on at full throttle like you were doing in the video. It has to be at idle so excess gas doesnt get into the engine.

Um... nope. My Kohler has a carb but no choke cable. Smart choke. Next, if someone doesn't know a what a 3 point turn is they shouldn't be driving on the road. The damage to the turf mainly depends on the type of grass it is along with the moisture in it.

My wife likes to pump the choke button like 5 or 6 times when she starts the mower. I do it the way you are in this video. Yesterday, my wife and I could not start the mower so we left it overnight and were able to restart it in the morning. Do you know if pumping the choke can flood the engine?

Pumping the choke will not cause flooding and is pointless to do it. Turn your engine over a few times without the choke. And if it doesn’t start, pull the choke out and try it again, and as soon as it starts, turn the choke off immediately.
