Keep in mind that many setting in the NVCP affect OpenGL games and things like the V-sync only applies when an app is run in fullscreen mode. The threaded optimization for example is an OpenGL only setting, just like Tripple Buffering. Most games these days games use DirectX on Windows and Vulkan gets more popular. Forcing AF x16 is a useful setting should your game not support it natively, Fast Vsync can be alright when you roughly achieve 2x your monitors refresh rate, otherwise use the game Vsync. At the bottom of the 3D Settings you will find "layering of OpenGL/Vulkan games on the DXGI swapchain", this can be very useful for games, especially when you want to use AutoHDR. Setting Texture Filtering to Highest Quality will also help a little. Other than that most settings there sadly arent that useful in 2023, DSR is ok and so is image scaling if you dont have an RTX card. Final note: be careful with the framerate limiters, not only does the driver like to add 2 frames of delay compared to 1 max on RTSS its also bad when you use framerate dependent (old) games or emulators, as limiting the framerate there will cause the game logic to go slower as well.

@@doobie6971 the Control Panel is still useful. Especially with newer hardware. It allows you to enable many features like gsync or DLDSR. You can tweak older games or enable auto HDR on Vulkan games by forcing the driver to treat them like a DirectX game. You also aktivate video super resolution there and so much more. Nvidias Control Panel is way more useful than GeForce Experience and I highly reccomend every Nvidia user to install it. Nvidia will likely enable RTX HDR soon. You then can hack AI HDR into older games all the way back to the 90s. Its a seriously useful power tool

The point isn't that these kind of tweaks are going to make you see massive increases in FPS. They're going to make your system cleaner, more stable so that your games will run better over the long term. Games get updated and poorly optimized systems can't take advantage of better written code, or conflicts occur with drivers doing things they shouldn't be, like the HDMI audio sleep timer one. Spending a few minutes to run these tweaks will perform some optimizations that 99% computer users have no idea how to do manually.
