I'm not sure if you mentioned this but, if you have a SFP scope, the subtenstions between marks will change with magnification.. I have found this to be helpful (although confusing at times) to dial in BDC reticles.. start at the higher end of magnification (say 7 on a 3x9) and see how marks line up, then adjust magnification higher, shoot/ test, then lower, test... between adjusting zero distance and magnification settings you can usually get a good set of useable marks (for example, my muzzleloader needed to be zeroed at 85, with BDC marks then working/ lining up at 100, 145, 180 etc)

Holy cow I’ve been looking for a mil correction video WITH the desire to still use my PA raptor M2 BDC. I knew I wasn’t the only one!

I enjoy this academic analysis and practical application. I have done something similar with BDC‘s at 300 yards For both 556 and 308 and it works really well. It gives you the precision out where you are likely to need it and a workable fudge factor up close

One thing you should call PA about is what the height over bore they used (not height over rail). If they used a traditional bolt gun with super low rings, the center of the scope will be much closer to the center of the barrel, than if they used like a Springfield hellion using a super high scope mount for example. We can assume the reticle wasn't made for a mount with an integrated cant (like what you find on ELR rifles with 20/30/40moa built in).

ARs being by far the most popular platform, I assume they designed it for that with standard rings. Mine measures 2.7 height over bore.

Thing im struggling with is an acog [ta02] on an 11.5 barrel. 62 grain mostly pmc xtac. Pretty sure its set up for a 14.5 so i cant really get thr zero down to match the bdc. And then factor in height over bore ..its a mess

@daynuhbraps try to get crono data and the process in the video should get you a happy medium. Height over bore is going to be pretty much the same at close range no matter your zero
