One thing I really appreciate about this channel is how grounded in reality you both remain. We mustn’t forgot the subject matters covered here can be viewed as superficial in the wholesome view of current affairs, as you say. But who is to say we cannot indulge a little? As someone who yearns to be organised (even more so than I already am!) this was incredibly interesting to listen to. The ‘13th commandment’ for me would be: Be Minimalist! I regularly review my wardrobe to ensure I am still wearing the items contained within. Anything I don’t wear any longer has to go. Thank you for your time once again. I have seen a comment about a house tour, I second this. All the best with the renovation! Best to you both.

When I was ten, my room would get very cold in the morning, so I got into the habit of ironing my clothes. It was nice way to warm myself up and I found it to be very relaxing to start the day with a pristine outfit :)

In addition to shoe trees, I like to store my shoes in clear boxes (container store has great ones). As a shoe addict, it’s so nice to see them all displayed in my closet and easy to find the pair I desire for the day.

I love this video! It's sort of funny but also a nice guide. I am an organization MASTER. Well, I just got fed up with spending money on items to replace because I kept losing them or wasting time looking for them. Then after a while, organization just became a way of life. I also read a book on organization that was based on feng shui (I didn't even have to look that up) in which it talks about energy flow from being organized. For me, it makes a REAL difference. Everything feels calmer. No chaotic energy. But you also know..... Organization can be seen as a form of control over your environment. There is a point where things go to far... I think shoe organization is the one I have some fun with. As a fairly typical New Yorker, space is at a premium and you have to come up with ideas to be efficient with it. I keep all my shoes in their boxes. If they are shoes that will benefit from shoe trees, they have them. While I have a shoe rack, I have too many shoes to fit them all on a single shelf. So the top shelf get stacked. And I have to organize the 'Shoe Box Statue' so when I remove a box, the structure doesn't collapse. Or I just slide another box in it's place to keep the structure intact. It may sound kind of funny... But that's me. My little mind game in the morning. I don't have so many shoes that I have to try to remember which are which. Just one brand where I have two pairs and the boxes look exactly the same. Or, print a little picture and tape it to the front. I know people who do that. Sorry for the long post. For me, being organized has helped me so much over the years to help keep my sanity with my typical, super-busy schedule. At the very least, it will help you in the algorithm 😊

I use 1" foam pipe insulation wrapped over flat metal strapping bent and secured to the inside of my closet doors to hang my designer ties. All are on view and the 1" thickness helps keep the rounded shape to the back of the tie. Also brushed metal peel and stick hooks are great for hanging up necklaces so they are easily accessible and remain untangled.

Agreed on buttoning shirt on a hangar. I only button the top one and use all the same hangar--Brooks Brother's black plastic men's shirt hangars--I bought dozens of their made-to-measure non-iron shirts over the last 10 years, and every one of them I asked for the hanger and they gave me one. Everything in a straight line is very satisfying! My tie organization is still a work in progress though...

S hooks from the kitchen store work for hanging denims. And ladies’ bra dividers for drawers also work well for men’s underpants. I find ironing once a weekend therapeutic (pity you didn’t mention buying a shirt sleeve, steamer and shoulder pad which are cheap to get and easily obtainable on Amazon). And finally, storing woollens and casual shirts folded and kept upright in boxes on shelves in the Marie Condo style is fantastic for maximising space and making selection easy.

I actually have two drawers dedicated to socks. My fall/winter socks in one drawer and my spring/summer socks. I’m kind of OCD so I have four drawers for belts separated by color, and four for ties separated by season, three shelves for pocket squares and closets for suits and sports coats by season. Won’t get into the shoes, colognes, or braceletand shirts. So I agree with everything you are saying. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

7:15 Simplistic? I have serious troubble with finishing things once I start them! It is a huge and very real struggle for unorganized people. I always was a very unatended man in style terms. Always jeand, sneakers, old boots, the first T-shirt I could find that relatively fitted me... recently I found out that having clothes that fit me and make look and feel a million bucks is something that puts me into a state of mind that allows me to get things done. Now I find myself seeking between my nice clothing and my old clothes (i have a lot of old clothes and still very little nice clothing, so I can't really get rid of the old clothes yet). I think I might be forced now to organize my closet and be able to get dressed up faster, without changing my clothes 3 times untill I am happy with it and without the less used clothes that I always give a pass. Found some sanity with this video. Thanks!

I’m single so all my 4 wardrobe closest space are mine. One closets just have dress pants and suits hanged. Other closest have just dress & casual shirts, ties hanged up, belts hanged up. Got one those cedar hangers to hang lots of ties on as well all my many belts. Other closest have all newer stuff. Last closest have just regular cloth hanged up on one half of it. Rest is for dress cloth I’ve worn at least once. So all my other closets are all clean stuff. I invested in few hundred cedar hangars to hang everything for trousers, shirts and suits. It did take lots of effort to organize closets but was worth the effort. Donated all the cloth stuff I no longer wear or too small to Good Will store.

Mr Le Drian is certainly a man of taste as well but nonetheless, since he seems to like his catchy eyewear collection, i am sure he would love to try something from Hugo's taste too since Hugo's is as important as his' is subjectively important. By the way, i love Mr Le Drian's suits and ties and i can imagine him in a Bonnet masterpiece ; what elegance it would finally be.

Dear Antoine, Mr Le Drian (our Secretary of State in France) was not very well known by the broad public (even in France) until last week and the infamous submarines crisis. I agree about his spectacles. All my best, Hugo

I have a question... Living in Queensland Australia where the climate is hot and humid pretty much three months of the year. Is it wise to keep your beautiful suits in garment bags? Particularly during the summer months which is when it appears moths are most active? Thank you...

Surprisingly mind changing conversation, but need help with brands with no-iron shirts, in North America, the majority are always in a rush getting ready in the morning, in general is it lazy to find time to iron shirts weekly or time saving to opt out for those no-iron alternative
@SARTORIALTALKS

Dear friend, to be honest we are not big fans of no-iron shirts as they are "finished" with formaldehyde (which is a heavy chemical). We prefer normal shirts that require ironing. All our best, Hugo

@@SARTORIALTALKS thank you Hugo, it's amazing to get a direct reply from you, I like your show, but I think my generation is having a hard time understanding the purpose of ties, when you have buttons now to hold your shirt... I understand the polishing boots because it's meditative

Bien amicalement, Hugo

Hello thanks for the video ! I'd like you to tell me if you know good european houses/websites for women who want to refine their style "the sartorial way" with good quality products for tops, shirts, dresses and suits. There's so much offer that it's very hard to filter the good ones from the bad ones, and most good websites I know are dedicated to men and have a very small women's clothes offer. Thanks in advance !

Dear Dukhi, moths is a universal problem for sartorialists. And I don't even know if a real radical solution exists (we tried a lot of different ones). Cedar hangers and sprays are, so far, the best solution we know (especially if you want to avoid toxic chemical products). Cheers, Hugo & Sonya
