Laura, I loved the organizing cords video. I use pipe cleaners or bread bag twists to hold my wound up cords. I then put the cords in pencil bags labeled by type and length, then they go into a bin. Everyone knows where to find cords and cubes. We have a rule, you use something out of the bin you leave the pencil bag with your name in it. For large cords I use TP rolls or different size PVC pipe that I have cut into different lengths and store them in a bin in the garage.

That is so smart! I think I have to try that 😊

I have some dexterity issues with arthritis and find many of the cord keepers hard to use. I finally came up with the idea of using baby socks for the smaller charging cords. Works great and I can leave the the one end out so I know which device it's for.

I have both the magnet wraps, and the shoelace like wraps, and I found myself gravitating to the shoelace ones because the magnet ones are so strong then when I pry them apart, I’ve been whacked on the fingernails a few times and it’s painful

I like the lazy Susan idea. The Dollar Tree has “rubberized green wire” similar to the silicon shoestring. You get a nice amount for $1. It’s easily cut so you can customize how much you need and it’s reusable. It’s in the garden section of the store so it may be hard to find now.

People bought a ton of the green covered wire to use for bendable nose pieces on face masks. It was really hard to find last year once the word got out.

I love that you love organizing! It is very weird but I love that. I always find it so awesome when people are obsessed with their niche thing!

Great ideas! I have a kitchen drawer dedicated to cords.(right by the largest power outlet where we charge everything). I was using three boxes, one for Apple products, one for Kindle/Fire tablets, and one for everything else. I secured them with twist ties, but the shoe string ones you show do look a little nicer. Recently my mom gave me a bathroom drawer organizer and I replaced the boxes with that. I use the largest section in the back for all the random ones and then use each of the other spots for my most commonly needed things (power bricks in one, headphones in another, air pods, watch charger, iphone charger, kindle charger). It's similar to your lazy susan concept, but is flat in a drawer so I don't have to see it. Thanks for sharing your tips!

Hi, Laura, I watched a video you showed before about storing cords so I started folding up my cords and using a twist tie I saved to tie it together. Thank you!

Wonderful! Do you have one for charging stations?

I feel like twist ties or pipe cleaners would do the same thing and you usually have those lying around waiting to be used for something lol. 😃

Great tips. I keep mine in empty loo roll holders. I write on the outside what they are. I don't think those small clear boxes would hold a UK plug, as ours are quite a lot bigger than US ones. By the way, the sound on this video is really good. Sometimes I find that the sound echos a bit & I can't hear you properly.

Great ideas! I think I’ll buy some of the “shoestring” type things to wrap around my cords.

love old shoe laces or the ones I replace with yanks. lace spring clips and laces make the perfect ties for nearly everything. sure, there is lots of extra lace left over, but it is all reusable. if you are super nit picky, go buy shorter laces or 550-cord and customize the lengths you need. not hard and easily changeable when needed. I use a marker and label my power bricks so I know what goes to what. yes, a label machine works too. On black bricks, I use a metallic color like silver or goooold.

Slightly surprised that u didn't mention the velcro style cord ties... I have quite a few of those & find them quite useful (I'm from South Africa 🇿🇦)... Would love to try the magnet ones - those look really cool, but getting them here is another story 😝
@mmortensen55982 жыл бұрын
I agree. I love using the velcro ties. My family would just take the other ties off and lose them. The velcro ties remain attached to the cord and then you can wrap it back around the wound up cord when you are done.

I use hair elastics with the ball on each end for my cords. They stretch for large cords, or you can wrap them around several times and then put the ball end through. Also, I would suggest using a label maker and labeling each cord so you know what cord goes to what!

I just wrap my cords up and secure with an old pony-tail holder. I buy in bulk for my hair so I ALWAYS have on hand and the different sizes allow for different cords.

1) The boxes are 3 x 3 x what? You left the height out. 2) I put masking tape flags on my cords to label what they go to (iPad, Kindle, phone to brick on power strip by bed, etc.).

Problems: ideally wires should not be bent to much especially as you did with small radius. Th lifespan will be significantly lower. If I had like you just that small box I would be pretty happy. I have 20 times more cables.
