Thank you, great video. You kept it brief and simple! Have your tried Intel's XTU utility? It's my understanding that it applies the overclock settings upon windows launch vs BIOS. That make is much faster to try different settings and in the even of a crash the next reboot defaults to stock settings without the need of clearing CMOS/BIOS reset. Once you have a long history of being stable that's when you can choose to move the settings to BIOS. At least that's how I understand how it works. I'm awaiting on parts to do a I5 - 13600K build.

I'm currently running mine at 5.2 P Core and 4.0 E Core at 1.14v. This works fine for me atm as it idles and runs under load much cooler (70-71c in CB R23 @ 100%) than stock settings with some boost. Considering I mainly use my system for gaming and its 1440p anyway, and I have very warm ambient temps, this really meets my needs. To run cooler, lil bit faster and lesser power draw 🙂.

@TruePlatform
@TruePlatform 9 ай бұрын
@nflikt I had to pull back form 5.6 to 5.5 for that reason, after a windows update for some reason when I'd benchmark in 3Dmark I'd crash before benchmark begins of course it's pushing 100% utilization but It was a very odd flip flop, I as well tried to increase voltage up to 1.375v and even beough down e-core. Onky way i was able to stick to 5.6 was when i stopped using the effeciency cores.. I've since upgraded to a 13700k and as well clocked it at 5.5ghz with 4.5ghz on e cores at 1.35v. Deff performance vs the 13600k is minimal but I can deff justify the extra $100 during games and workloads as it deff feels like it's far much less under pressure in terms of utilization

I haven't received my hardware yet so I'm not sure how it is on MSI boards, but one thing that was mentioned about ASUS boards is that, in the BIOS, it'll ask you what type of cooler you have. If you choose liquid, it will bump up the settings and you'll have issues with high temps. If you choose box or tower cooling, it becomes manageable. Not having done my new build yet, I don't know what kind of stock temps I'll be getting, but hopefully I won't be maxing out in Cinebench like that.

There's an easy way around the high temperatures: buy an LGA 1700 frame bracket (from Thermaltake for example). There are even some special ones for water coolers, depending on the water cooler manufacturer. The standard loading mechanism is fastening too tight, which bends the CPUs.

with MSI boards just set the lite load cpu setting in bios to level 9 or lower and the temps drop drastically.. mine peaks at 81c instead of 100C.. I ran default settings and only changed the settings in the video. Ultimate performance usually opens the taps on power limits so may increase temps and power consumption. It shouldn’t have much benefit to overclocking with the settings we use as we’re just increasing the voltage and multiplier

Now this was each with the 10 min timers. If you let yours go 10 minutes what is your temps on the 5.5 you are running thank you.. ps. I'm using the cinebench r24 I just saw, and also when I pick no testing duration it seems it just keeps going? It doesn't stop at one minute and it doesn't show me a comparison of other cpus. I did get a test result on my 5.3 around 1900+ forgot exactly, but I know it was in the 1900's @ 5.3 I also noticed on this gigabyte board changing this core voltage to 1.2 doesn't stick, I read somewhere it's probably due to llc, but for us that the voltage isn't sticking what can we do to force it?

Intel confirmed motherboard makers have set the default to 12 which is to high and not needed.. also why the temps are stupid high on the New Intels.. everyone is saying they are designed to run this hot etc but they infact do NOT need to.

Man, thanks for the video! I have a 13600k and some questions about your oc and Temps Did you set any load line in mobo? Your Temps are too high for your cooler system. I set the load line to 4 in my Tuf mobo and vcore at 1.250...when in full load, vcore drops to 1.200 because of load line and my Temps is 68 degrees celsius max...and I have an average aio watercooler... Looking for your system behavior, it seems that load line is set to 1 so your vcore don't drop in full load but you got high temps
@CrazyTechLab
@CrazyTechLab Жыл бұрын
Adjusting loadline would be the next step as well as tweaking E-Cores, but this guide's aim was to tweak just two settings - voltage and multiplier (for P-cores). Keeping it simple so it's not scary or difficult to follow for newcomers essentially!

@CrazyTechLab

@@CaioFreitas1987 It’s very motherboard dependant. Some boards work fine without it, others need a small amount of loadline. In my experience, using extreme loadline, often results in very high voltages and temperatures, so I generally wouldn’t use that for a 24/7 overclock.

Mine 13600K only can handle the stock frequencies on this voltage with MSI Z790-A Pro WiFi. But this voltage definitely reduces heat output. Mine dropped from 100°C to 83°C on air cooling. Anyway, I've found much simpler way to achieve the same temperatures on stock clock rate - you have to keep everything on default (auto) and just set "CPU Lite Load" to Mode1 (under OC->Advanced CPU Configuration). In this scenario the clock will be not locked on high value and will be reduced on idle, therefore idle consumption will be decreased a lot, literally to couple watts.

@@CrazyTechLab I was trying to find out the best bios settings to aid with lower idle and working temps, on essentially a near identical board (z690 carbon,13600K), 6000mts ram, peerless assassin air cooler (which runs cooler than the twin fan corsair aio previously did before it gave in to cautionary pump display issues, due to weak core to pump cables or the commander struggling itself after a couple of days of use). After a windows 11 install with the air cooler it ran at 32c idle, many installs later it's now at 38c. There does not seem to be additional services running but of course that doesn't account for win services and updates. It stays there. Some 3d software even when it's clearly struggling (no gpu yet) doesn't stretch the temp beyond 45c for some reason.. although prime95 with default settings does hit 100c as in your initial case. The hottest part of the board is easily the pch temp (60c idle,reported through fancontrol)
