This is such an important video for society these days. I wish everyone would watch it because the "badge of victimhood" seems rife in this world that just got worse over the past few years especially. Now it seems the victim mentality is used as a sort of status symbol and a tool or way to get resources & money that one ordinarily wouldn't get. It's definitely used more as a manipulation now and I've seen it with many people online and those I know in life.

Wow. This has made me more aware of what I didn’t know I do! I would be a victim to get things and would think that I have to break things in order for things to be great. I have to work on this.

Half way into the video I suddenly got very angry. I picked up my pen and scribbled into paper why was I feeling that way. And it came out "I cam never be wrong, it was never my fault and it was not me to be blamed for the manipulation." David was right I couldn't take it but I believe in his wisdom and so allowed myself to understand that this was life changing for me.

I feel like my life has been continous failures . So it is easy to become a victim because of these failures in career , dating life etc . And I have negative thoughs even if I think future can be better place- edit. I saw the episode, Thank you for answering. I should be more proud what I went through, and still I'm here.

Fascinating video! Really eye opening that the victim mentality can be used as a protective mechanism/a tool for manipulation so that people won’t be as harsh or as critical. Great video as always!!!

Loved the video. These videos have helped me so much that I can feel the progress. However, sometimes you can’t help but feel like something is not quit right. And ik David will probably say that I am the creator of my emotions and I agree that I am but when I create these emotions of something not being quit right but not having any answers, what suggestion would you give for me to do to know these feelings or stop them?

Hello Stella, Thank you for your question and interest in our work. Your question demonstrates the importance of the Golden Thread Process. Remember to separate the emotions you create by using the technique of not saying “I feel.” Instead, replace that phrase with “ I believe/think/choose.” Then you will be able to follow the self-enquiry questions to the core or foundational belief. This is usually found in your childhood experiences that we describe as the ‘Inner Child’ reparenting. There are many videos in our archives explaining the technique. I hope I’ve addressed your question and covered all the relevant points. Thank you again for your question and interest in our work. Kind regards, David.

hi, I got diagnosed with "post traumatic stress disorder" about eight years ago. Sometimes I get triggered by the cases which can be reminders of my traumas. Do you think this is also a wictom mindset, and we create the red-light-feeling with our own choice?
@WuWeiWisdom

Hello Sebnem, Thank you for your question and interest in our work. As you will appreciate, it would be inappropriate for me to comment on personal issues without full knowledge, history and background. Therefore I can only comment in general terms. It is incredibly challenging to process major traumatic and unexpected life events. The Golden Thread Process we demonstrate in many of our videos allows you to deconstruct and understand how you have mentally and emotionally addressed and rationalised those events; we call these KZbin videos 'Life Lessons' to encourage that self-discovery work. You may find it helpful to look at some of those Golden Thread Process videos in our archives. I hope I’ve addressed your question and covered all the relevant points. Thank you again for your question and interest in our work. Kind regards, David Lees.

Thank you so much David and Alex, you are awesome 👌 My question is: can someone develop this belief in adulthood because have searched my childhood, I couldn't see where these limiting beliefs started, then I want you if you can to analyse the golden thread formula here, thank you once again, well done. Thank you in anticipation

This is much too simplistic understanding of human psychology. I honestly lament the day that online ‘gurus’ like yourselves began flaunting this term of shame ‘victim mentality’. I know you’ll say it’s to empower people but it isn’t, the data does not support that claim. You also conflate and confuse several clinical terms here. You also have severely misunderstood the nature of human emotion. Please update your education on issues like this as this sort of thing actively harms people that may be on the edge. I speak to them regularly in my profession. Best regards.

@@WuWeiWisdom As a clinical psychologist, I work with some of the most vulnerable and desperate people in society. People who’ve endured horrific psychological and emotional trauma. People who come to me so desperate that suicide feels necessary to them. The idea that I would sit accross from them and tell them that they’re issue is that they have a ‘victim mentality’ is not only counter factual with absolutely no corroboration in data or study, it is also morally reprehensible as well as personally repugnant. This entire brand of ‘modern guru’ pop psychology that has proliferated on the internet in recent decades has been so harmful to so many. The idea also that we ‘create our own emotions’ is again straight out of the Anthony Robbins style handbook. It is completely counter factual to suggest that human beings ‘create’ their own emotions. Granted, yes, they can influence these emotions when they arise, but they do not create them. This is absurd. To take this line of thinking to its logical conclusion: nobody that is desperate and crying about ending their lives is creating those emotions themselves. Things like this go hand in hand with the ‘law of attraction’ (I don’t know if you promulgate this but it’s only a step away from it). Absolutely zero data or basis in evidence yet a modern proliferation of this kind of thing on the internet. I haven’t got time to go more in depth than this but please, for people’s sake, update your education on this and take this sort of harmful misinformation down. It does not empower people, it harms them. In the same way a ‘herbalist’ claims they can treat cancer and delays the client getting actual evidence-based treatment for it. Please consider what I have commented here. Best regards.

@@itsmyytaccount8498 Again your comments do not relate to the video. The idea that a professional would ‘sit across’ and tell a client they have a victim mentality is ludicrous! Your personal views about ‘modern gurus,’ pop psychology, Anthony Robbins, herbalists, etc., are your views and opinions but not mentioned or discussed in the video. I understand you have strong opinions on these subjects, and I respectfully suggest you direct your professional or personal comments more carefully. Being a clinical psychologist, you already appreciate the importance of clear, factual responses. As I previously said, I would be happy to discuss any points raised in the video (please time-stamp) and clearly state your issue or disagreement. This is our second round of communications; I would also need to know your name and details to check you are not trolling. You can forward these privately to my email address. Thank you, David.
