I have GAD , health anxiety, and panic disorder. I haven't seen a dentist in 13 years. I have a few bad teeth, one is now infected. I have an appointment today and I let the office know about my anxiety. I just don't want to have a panic attack, once I have one It sometimes spirals out of control.

I’m literally so freaking scared because I’m going to the dentist and I have bad teeth because I haven’t gone to the dentist since before COVID, and my teeth I have a feeling are bad but what I’m rlly scared of is that I won’t be able to do it, or I’ll be a dissapointment. I just wanna be better 😭

I have some good news for anyone afraid of the needles specifically - Many dentists nowadays offer a numbing gel before any injections. And they often taste nice lol

I have a couple fillings due tomorrow. I was supposed to get them done in march last year but then we couldn't leave our houses and it's taken me a whole year to get another appointment. Luckily, my dentist did and x-ray last week and was surprised the cavities hadn't progressed so hopefully it won't be that bad. Will definitely try wiggling my toes during the jab - that's my least favourite part.

@@shafaqpinky11 sooo it was like this : they didn’t completed the root canal , because it’s a difficult thing , so the doctor did half of it and after one week , they completed the root canal , the 2 time i went for root canal completed it hurt so freaking bad Omg but the doctor said the pain is for few days, i was dying... ohh really good luck to u 😭

Having a tooth removed in a hour, kinda scared of shots that numb and the pain. ill update when i get it done Edit: i honestly didnt feel a thing, my lips are very numb for 15 minutes though

@@YewandeDental thank you! I honestly have a fear of any tooth removal, since almost all baby teeth i lost since now had to be removed by the dentist since they didnt want to fall out and the adult tooth appeared in front or behind the baby tooth

I’m 16, haven’t visited dentist in like 7 years, just because had no tooth pain at all, even if there was, it was gone in day or so. So the main reason is pain, i remember the procedure like a torture. Backstory I was 8 or 9, they gave me anaesthesia, but it still was painful, in the middle of the procedure I said that it hurts bad as hell, they kept going and drilling. So basically it was probably dentist fault.

I pretty much have the exact same story and I’m going to the dentist tomorrow for the first time in forever..and my back teeth aren’t doing good lol, so im pretty scared. Mine hurt quite a lot so that’s why i decided it was finally time :/

I had check up last week and my throat dries up when i open my mouth, i have to had filling and cut some gums because the cavity is near the nerves, and thinking about it heightened my anxiety more that's why i'm here

I went to a nervous patients clinic but i walked out couldn't do it......and they didn't know how to even talk to a person with anxiety and not all places are bad i felt stressed cause 4 women were looking at me when i got in the chair....and i thought it was for fillings then she said oh we are taking 3 teeth today.....i was like oh nooooo you said fillings you lied and i said sign me up for hospital but yeah thats my experience.....but im glad i did get mine out i did get myself worked up alot over it as well though and didn't help myself either🙄😂

Im about to get 2 teeth removed in a couple of hours for my braces and hopefully it wont hurt(im scared of the needle) Update: it went pretty well not as bad as i expected i just cant feel the whole bottom side of my face

I have to have tooth number 17 removed or root canal, I’m so scared of them numbing me way back in my mouth it is a wisdom tooth and it is not impacted so it should come out easy . How is the numbing back there will I feel it in my throat. I’m freaking out because I was once given too much epinephrine and it went into my blood stream to my heart . People worry about the pain or proceedure when the worse part is the numbing

gna try go to a new dentist tomorrow, praying he will even take me in. where i live every dentist is private and youre lucky just to find one let alone someone who wont do more damage than good. the guy ive been "going" to for years now is so useless and condescending last time i went with an infection he screamed at me and hurt me so bad id rather suffer more with an infected jaw if i cant get a new one 3 years later now. the agony my teeth have caused me literally made me turn to substance abuse just to sever the pain link to my brain. when i go tomorrow the new guy better take me and clear this up even if ill be left with ONE molar on that side age 22. sigh

I had my bad ones out sedated then under anaesthetic in February tg cause i tried the dentist the anxiety i haf i couldn't do it.....i have to wait 6-8 weeks for dentures went in terrified and when i came around in hospital i was glad it was over.....i have an appointment in April now.....and i don't feel as bad as i first was.....even the several teeth they did remove pain wise it wasn't awful it just felt strange....and i hate that crunching sound and thats why i had to be referred to hospital i was in pain for months it took a year.....i had tooth infections and abcesses 2 only luckily i now have no upper back teeth....bottom wisdom ones gone and a front side one but i still need fillings....i was told my gums are healthy and the surgeon and nurses were brilliant when i went to hospital really understanding as well about anxiety i also have fibromyalgia a chronic pain illness too.....

Aww make sure you tell the dentist this beforehand and they will make sure they are extra gentle with you. Take a deep breath before it starts. Maybe bring some headphones to listen to music to distract you! You will be fine x

From my experience I can say it's really not that bad. You can ask them to do the raise your hand thing. I do it every time. Then again, I didn't get it numbed because I was scared of that.
