My son and I now play our first shot but will throw 3 or 4 different shots with all different shot types on our casual rounds. That has helped us out with tags and tournaments so much where it really matters.

Robbie, I just wanted to tell you how much I am enjoying your videos. I'm 58 and have been playing on and off for a few years but have never gotten any better really. I finally decided to search on KZbin to get some help. After watching numerous KZbinrs I came across your channel and I knew right away it was the one for me. Just a couple of statements you made it felt like you knew exactly what I was thinking. I'm hooked. You have a great presence in front of the camera. Add in your knowledge of the sport, relating to people trying to improve and some humor and it's the total package. So thank you Robbie, you are doing great! You are making me look at my game in a whole new light and I'm truly super excited to get out and have fun and improve my game. Thanks again and take care.

Hey Robbie, just wanted to let you know I’m 46 and started playing disc golf in 2020. Last fall I was pretty discouraged when I just couldn’t make any progress. I discovered your KZbin channel and a video you made about playing for par to improve. That video really sparked a huge change in my game. I have improved so much this year that at league tonight the guy that runs it declared me the most improved player. It was really special to hear. Thanks for making the videos, I can’t say enough how they help me!

Man I needed to see this been having a hard time having fun lately by trying to tweak my form and improve and constantly telling myself “I’m not good enough” Definitely gonna go out this weekend with some new discs and just have fun.

I had to totally change my forehand form because my arthritic body told me to and decided to learn my back hand at the same time. It’s been a journey. I mostly just want to go to the field to work it out most days.

I just want to say THANK YOU Robbie! Thank you for your openness and honesty. I am just a couple months in and am my own worst critic, I am taking these suggestions to heart and will carry them with me in my disc golf journey. And as a bonus, you have given me new discs to lust after as I try to rein in my plastic-collecting-addiction. 🤣 Keep up the great work man! We appreciate your efforts and I'm looking forward to seeing the other side of the valley with you!

Had the same problem late last year, fixed it by disc-ing down on every hole. This also helped me work on distance which never hurts. Looking forward to the next "In the Bag". Favorite disc golf podcast out right now.

Just watched this this morning and already I started to put together a second bag as a "fun bag" with all my "storage" discs or discs I want to test out! So I have a whole other bag buildout that I can just grab and go when I need to!

At 12:24 you talked about 9 speeds vs 7 speeds. Been really enjoying my game since switching all my drivers from 9/10s to 7/8s as I re-learn good form
@bobbybobman3073 Жыл бұрын
My 9's are my go to on a good throwing day, it's very Calvin like lines, just low pretty straight Laser beam shots ... Those are my use of 9 speeds. My days where I can't seem to keep the nose down and I'm lifting the disc too much, that's a 7 speed day ... Since my 7's are more beat in, if I hit it like a 9 speed it being real flippy and "over" throwing it means the extra speed helps it play straight since everything is overstable when nose up enough.
@pathape Жыл бұрын
Once you can get mids going up to 330 or more, 7 speed discs become tweeners and throwing 9 speeds less hard cover the 7 speed slots
@pathape Жыл бұрын
The reverse is true. If your throwing midranges 250 to 300ish, 7 speeds are more useful than 9 speeds. You can just bump up to distance drivers from 7 speeds.

Robbie! Thank you for the reminder that just exploring and experimenting on a course with a buddy can be refreshing. I’m gonna be doing this soon at Muddy Run one of the more difficult courses that I’ve only played at once in PA. I’ve heard good things about clash before this and I think I’m gonna exploring them! Thanks man.

Robbie great video! And just what I needed to see!! I was not able to play for about 10 days and the break caused me to slide right in to burnout. Now its been a month since I got out there because I just could not find the passion. Now I am excited to throw some this holiday weekend (unless Bama baseball keeps winning!) Hope to see you soon!!!
@ChaChaRiot Жыл бұрын
Funny that you just made this because I just did some of these while in a burnout. I picked up regular putting practice again and even still being bottom of my regular card I’m happy seeing the putts go In that I’ve missed a thousand times. Then just last weekend I played a course that was much harder than my normal one that I’ve never played before. I left only happy about the good shots and not worried about the bad ones

We have a 9 hole in my town. Me and my brother play what we call power 18s where you play 2 discs each hole. 1 is forehand to the green. 1 is backhand. Really allows for good practice while still moving at a good pace

My reminder round is go to a course and not play the smart shot. Go simon lines and see what happens. Re kindle that spark. For me im still a 280 comfortably player so still alot i need to fix in my driving. But putting has went from my worst to my best part of my game after resetting mentality. And the two things that changed it for me was mentally. 1. Aiming right below the band to give it hight to go in. I was a timid putter. 2. Aim for the chains behind the poll. Cause being a timid putter i wasnt putting through thr basket so that extra foot gave my mind enough space to ramp up my putts to still go straight into the chains

I recently made a ton of changes because things weren't working as they should. It has not gone well... I was attempting to make a run at a points series in my area. I started great. But the following events I just kept getting worse and worse. It just got too overwhelming. I stepped back and just started playing casual golf again. Just trying to find my love for the sport again. I've started playing in some local leagues with buddies. Its starting to bring me back. But I still find myself not wanting to golf as much as I used to.

Sound like me. I just shot the worst round I've played since a couple weeks after I started playing and I'm about a year in. I'll start out strong or weak and finish the opposite. Thankfully I'm starting to identify my issues in the mental game with playing in a more formal setting woth other players.
@zacharywoodford8530 Жыл бұрын
@Mr.Meatty same here. I was Tues for 3rd a couple weeks ago after 1 round, like 3 shots off the lead, then proceeded to shoot 10 over and finished 15th

Hey RobbieC, im wanting to talk to a local city about starting a disc golf course in their park, what advice or tips would you have?
@Chris-qq2cu Жыл бұрын
in regard to throwing a 7 speed instead of a nine, i feel like i remember Simon talking on someone's show about how most people's furthest flying disc should be a7-8 speed disc. I believe this was still in his DM days and his example was that his FD was his distance disc unless he needed the extra stability from his DD's.
@NickCarroll Жыл бұрын
My disc golf valley is the random-yet-consistent nature of completely messing up a throw. To the point where the throw was completely different than what was intended. Instead of a controlled slight hyzer, I might end up with an absolute shank due to late release and anhyzer throw. So instead of the understable disc hyzer flipping to flat, I end up releasing an anhyzer throw 45 degrees to the right. To top that off, this happens more often in some rounds than others, and there's no way to stop the bleeding at that point. Even if I disc down, or slow down, I'm just "off" and I have to wait it out. Eventually the throws come back to normal, but the experience in that slump just sucks, and it just kills me going through it.

Literally play with friends more and fewer solo / practice rounds, maybe have a beer or a joint with them too so it’s about having fun with them and not about performance. Performance focus and hyper competitiveness is 90% of the problem…maybe some more open park courses hahah.
