He underestimates grief as a mean to heal trauma, which he totally dismisses and kind of blames the victim.

Trauma can have dramatic consequences on our brain chemistry. But we can channel the product of it to be either stronger, or a victim. We can choose to wallow in a pity party (drink/drugs/self-sabotage), or we can use that anger or frustration to be invincible and reverse that negativity towards others. It has been done. He is right to stop worrying about what we cannot control. But that momentary panic gives humans fight or flight. And that part IS a choice how we react. Positively or negatively. Not everyone can have the same strength.

I get it because we really do have the power to talk back to ourselves about the stories we tell ourselves and to calm ourselves down when we feel like freaking out and this is only possible when we are present with ourselves and not trying to avoid (a rare thing in this day and age with the distraction of technology) and i don't get it, because i have been conditioned so much to believe i am powerless to my thoughts and feelings so much of the time from being a slave to my subconcious mind and tell myself it is too hard.

you don't choose to become wise or wounded. you're wounded, period. and in some cases, wounded in every way to the point of not being able to live. only time heals a bit thanks to our not powerful human memory, we can't remember the bad shit after a while. but in case of serious trauma, people are wounded forever and it s a real problem. it's sad.
@redarmy5894
@redarmy5894 11 ай бұрын
What? You definatly can choose to become wise because i see a lot of old not very wise people. Not sure how one gets wounded in everyway possible without dieing. Your brain will remember what it deems nessersary for survival, For how long you choose to think a certain way about a certain thing is your choice is what hes trying to say.

People don't seem to understand that horrid things happen. One can be doing their daily things and someone else comes in and does something that sets off a PTSD episode or sends them into a DID episode. We aren't carrying it around; this was drilled into us by past horror in our lives that make the basic body react as it recognizes danger. Don't blame a victim for not allowing themself to be victimized and going into survival mode because others are doing things inappropriately. (Screaming/grabbing/threatening people, walking around drunk/massively aggressive and angry/stoned beyond sanity, and many other things can make people react. A simple car backfiring because it isn't in good repair or driven wrong can set it off!)

How does it matter? You can’t change the past or predict to future. It’s now that matters. Now creates future and we learn from the past. But dwell in either won’t do anyone and good.

He says very insightful things and nonsense at the same time. People don't choose to be destroyed by things that happen to them but sometimes it overcomes them. There are tools out there to help but life isnt a role playing game where we decide tk be happy or unhappy. You can be wise oflr wounded. Wise up mate. Oversimplified

Inner engineering is about creating a wellbeing to cope better in life, especially when things are difficult. Being overcome or overwhelmed might not happen if you are in a state of wellbeing because you can handle life's difficulties in a healthier way.

Yes this man is very wise. BUT I think he's simplifying things too much, even though for an anxious mind that can really help. But you can't avoid 'insanity' because you know you need to stay sane for your dying child.... He is acting as if we have more capacity/skills than what some people do.

This guy, who refers to himself as „CEO“ - defining himself by some title - lacks so much empathy and experience that he actually referred to losing a child as an event comparable to losing a job - like one wouldn’t be a completely different universe of experience. One you can’t forget EVER. Losing a job is forgotten as soon as you got a new one or made it your blessing by starting your own business.
