Depends on what your needs are. If you travel frequently, investing in a carry on that will last and you won't worry about is definitely worth it. If you travel once a year, maybe not

Cora Dudash I know this probably won't be much help, but I think your best bet is to make a capsule wardrobe with basic pieces that you can create tons of outfits with. If something comes up and you don't have the appropriate clothes, you can get some online for very cheap, rent them (if you need, say, a cocktail dress) or even borrow from someone else. Congrats on this opportunity!

I studied abroad in Scotland last semester! My tip would be to only take items you really love and can see yourself wearing during different types of weather/seasons. I found that I didn't really need that many different types of jackets or shoes. Just a rain jacket and rain boots, and then whatever you wear normally. Buying stuff like toiletries and bedding when you get there saves a lot of room in your suitcases. Also vacuum seal bags are amazing. Have fun in Scotland, it's incredible!!

Packing layers is essential for the seasons. Fashion is so different throughout the world so leave lots of room for bringing home stuff. I had to pay 150 Euro for an extra bag coming home from my study abroad experience in Vienna >.< . You don't need to bring basic toiletries (except for what you need to get there). Buy shampoo, body wash, conditioner, etc when you're there. You can also bring stuff that you are okay with donating when you leave if you want to shop more. Also make sure you have a backpack/small duffel for weekend trips.

Sprousehart :3 you make the time and just do it. Easier if the place you're staying has a gym but it's defly not a must. One can workout in the room, park, etc. A good effective body weight workout can be done in 30 mins or even less. No tools necessary.

I just got back from two and a half weeks in the UK and Ireland. Packing cubes are the best - I found mine on Ebay for a really good price. My advice is to roll your clothes, not fold them. Saved me SO much space!

1 word planning. Seriously do all the research & organizing before, have half days & days planned out so you can move them about if something pops up you want to do. Make a list & you can research BOGOF tickets, travel discounts etc too.

When I was in like middle school age I used to travel with my parents. One time I realised I didnt pack enough underwear. So, me, being a smart little weirdo I am, took some soap and went to the hotel bathroom. I washed all the dirty undies in the sink with soap as a emergency laundry. The undies survived and I surely recommend doing that with anything. But be careful, cause if you're about to wash something thicker that way, like a pair of jeans, give it a little more time to dry off. I mean, if you're washing your jeans today, you probably wont be able to wear it tomorrow cause it'll still be wet. And definitely rinse things off by twirling it as hard as you can Just saying, dont forget to pack your brains people ;) They might come in handy sometimes lol

Z0mbie .ok not really that smart most clothes are not really able to be washed with soap especially thinner clothes. Also twirling them as hard as you can? That’s the worst idea ever first of all it damages your clothing second of all it stretches your clothing and third of all it wrinkles your clothes when you dry them. You know the way you have all your liquids in those pouches?... don't you have to fit all of that into the clear plastic bag you get at the airport? That's what I struggle with, I can't fit all those liquids you have there into the bag, makeup usually takes up the majority of the space, you know what I mean? Out of over a dozen or so, yours’ is the only good one. By the way, roll clothes rather than flat pack, saves space.

You can use luggage case to prevent the scratches. There are lots of brands that have cute designs for the case, one of them is LOQI (#notspon 😁). Or you can custom made it, usually the materials are thick plastic and faux leather.

I choose not to take things in a carry on because the airlines I normally fly on allow 1-2 bags free so money isn't an issue and also, I don't have to pull a suitcase behind me as well as a backpack and/or duffel. I've never had bags lost either and printing the stickers put from the kiosk is so satisfying :D

I saw the away luggage and It looked like a great product, but I tried to purchase the product and had an awful experience. It charged my credit cards multiply times I asked exactly what happened, but there was not real explantation for it. I still wanted to buy it in the end, but I asked if there was any compensation for the hassle of calling multiply banks to get my charges cleared and they said there is nothing they could do to help or even give a slight promotional discount. In the end I would still love to purchase the product, but the buying experience and talking with the rep left a bad taste in my mouth. :***(
