I really enjoyed your explanation of how you padded out your form. It's one of the best I've seen so far. Your the first person I've seen talk about how muscle lay. Great job.

When I did mine I used an old bra to pad out the cups, since I needed to add so much in the boob area! That also really helped to get the shape of the boobs right, since they can vary so much. I also just covered mine in a tight tshirt, which seemed to work okay!

Wow! Great tutorial. I think it's maybe Noelle (Costuming Drama) who has a bra on hers. As Mother Nature endowed me with more boobage than anyone needs (I feared my kids cheeks would get stretch marks. LOL), I thought that was a great idea, too.

This was great! I'll have to pad mine out once I get access to it again... From memory, mine is too long in the torso as well, but somehow I never thought to pad that and shift the hips higher! One suggestion though, is it possible to change the location of the playlist link at the end of the video? It's blocking the badge code from view and I actually had to go frame by frame to read what it said as it scrolled in from the side! (I'm using the website not the app, hence the reliance on the alphanumerical code rather than the QR)

How would one go about shaving off areas of a dress form? Any tips?
@QueenDeLuxe

Cécile ooo this depends what’s inside... I guess you could go excavating and find out. But probably easier to just take in your garment.

What I was hoping to see is how you would address the issue of padding a form to match a short waisted, narrower shouldered figure? I’m like 4’11 and 175 lbs so that makes me a petite queen size and perhaps out of luck? I have a old wolf model size 8. Any ideas?
@QueenDeLuxe
@QueenDeLuxe 4 жыл бұрын
My comment got deleted or never made it to you??? Your wolf size 8 should work if the shoulder mesurment is close to yours. You can start with your hips. Set them higher and add the waist tape at your neck to waist measurment, so it is also higher. You can use all the techniques that I showed you in the video. The tricky part is the bust. The bust on the dress form can not be moved, so you have to cheat it up or down, acording to your bust point measument. Try an old bra and fill it with padding to mimic your shape. Hope this helps.

Queen De Luxe Hello, thank you for your reply. I didn’t see this until Mon Aug 17th, so I don’t know what happened? But I haven’t been in this space for a while, so maybe it wasn’t anything you did/didn’t do? So I’m trying to envisage the directions you so thoughtfully provided. It was very helpful. So hopefully my shoulder span more or less matches the dress form? Now, are you referring to the measurement from the base of the neck where the shoulder seam meets it, to the tip of the shoulder tip on the form? Or do you mean the upper cross back measurement taken from the mid armscye straight across the mid back to the same point on the opposite armscye? I think on me, my shoulder width is something like 5, 5 1/2” inches across? The average shoulder width on a 5”8”+ model is something like 7”? I might have a problem? Just wondering. Thanks!

I’ve got a 1/4” layer of batting covering a duct tape form. (Don’t worry, she is well stuffed and even has a cage inside.) I’m in the process of covering it, but I’m feeling like ¼” of batting isn’t quite enough. QUESTION 1: Should I add another layer before I finish the covering? QUESTION 2: After much consideration, I’ve decided to cut my fabric and cover her one side at a time. Are there any words of wisdom as I complete this part of the process?
@QueenDeLuxe
@QueenDeLuxe 4 жыл бұрын
I am going to do my best to give this a go. I have not recovered a dress form, so take this with a grain of salt. 1. I would add an extra layer of batting. Every thing squishes down once the covering goes on. 2. One side at a time seams very reasonable. I think I would start with the back and baste down the sides to your batting layer. Then on to the front making sure to keep the cover tight to the form. A curve needle would be helpful in this adventure.

@@QueenDeLuxe Thank you! I saw you wrapped your girl from the bottom, I might end up giving that a try once I get the new layer of batting on.

If you start with a form that is smaller than your smallest measurement you can still do this to. I had to buy one to fit my underbust and I adjusted the back to fit then added a bra and then up the hips and tummy a bit before padding all around that area. She's great now.

How much padding can you safely add?
@QueenDeLuxe
@QueenDeLuxe 4 жыл бұрын
Linda Ursin, this is a great question and I should have addressed it in my video. It is great to have one major circumference bust, waist or hips reference point. You should be close to your measurements on the dress form. Then you can pad out the rest. But this is not always an option. 2 sizes up is safe. After that, things can start to warp. But I have some very talented friends who have made it work.
