Love that you are doing the Nolzur line. Would you mind listing the paints you use in these videos going forward? Thanks

Your videos are really great. I've been lurking here for a few months and I've really enjoyed watching you paint. You are like the grown-up, no gimmicky version of Miniac (Who I also enjoy watching a lot). I especially like your airbrush work. If you ever plan to do a "buy this unit of X models (for practice), these paints, and follow along!" that would be amazing. Keep up the good work, your video quality is great.

Thank you very much! I really admire Miniac and hope to have as much success as he does, so I'm flattered by the comparison. I'll consider the buy and paint along idea as well :)

Agree 100%. This video was a joy to watch and I learned a lot. Miniac is very knowledgeable and full of talent but difficult to watch. Too much nonsense for me.

The "physics" behind pulling down with the brush being easier is that you're doing a more natural arm movement. Brushing upward will always offer more resistance as your fighting gravity, don't forget. Not so when you have gravity working for you in the downward motion. I'm a comic book artist who inks with a brush often, so that's always been my experience. By the way, you did an amazing job on this Beholder, and I love that you got rid of the silly wedge eye thing. Great decision.

I have looked at a bunch of places online for those Vallejo paints. Do you know what pack they come in? I looked for those id numbers but still couldn't find them in a pack of Vallejo game ink paints? Also, what is the "Green stuff work" you use?

Really love this video, definitely a good exploration of the ratio time investment/end result. Absolutely love the eyes those are top notch the iris's steal the show. Only thing I would do different is the teeth. I find that using lines (as opposed to smooth blending/layering) lends to the effect of making it look like growing bone. Great job!

Rob Harget thanks Rob! Great point about the teeth, I'll try that sometime!

This miniature is amazing, and thus is really hard to find. They are coming out with an undead beholder in a march - already have three on preorder.

I really like how you used inks and basically get free highlights. I think this is a very good way also for beginners. I think I am gonna try it. Do you think I get the same result with just thinned down base colours like Vallejo for example or do I need ink specifically ?
@TheMiniJunkie3 жыл бұрын
I feel like you need the transparency of inks to really make this work. I guess an option would be to think regular paints with glaze medium. Since this video, GW Contrast paints were released which are also a good option.

Just an FY-EYE…there is a clear lens, included in the packaging, that is supposed to go over the cut out eye

I "see" what you did there!
@beta57514 жыл бұрын
Personally I think they could have not cut so deeply in the eye but only go in maybe 1-2mm to give it depth but still have enough material to paint
